I didnt look for some one specializing in wls, but one who had strong experince in working with eating disorders. this far out the wls isnt my issue, but maintaing a good pattern of eating( enough but not too much) and appropriate levels of exercise is my issue. My relationship with food makes me much more like other people with eating disorders than differnt from them, with or with out surgery.

Hey Wil ... there is an interesting program in the NW burbs that I've been pointed toward, and will most likely go through it. It's an eight week (1-1/2 hours per week) "workshop" called Transformations and was created by three psychologists specifically for the post-bariatric surgery community. Each workshop has no more than eight people and they focus on moving on, body image, emotional eating ... I don't have the info right in front of me at the moment, but I'd be happy to pass on more info. I've met a few of the psychologists at some of the support group meetings I frequent and know people who have been through the workshop and it has come highly recommended. Let me know if you're interested. Karyn

My counselor was recommended to me by my Bariatric Program's Coordinator, it worked out great. I didn't know it at the time, but counseling turned out to be essential for me, I don't think I would have done so well without it. I didn't realize, at the time, that I had the issues that I did - they would have come out sooner or later, it was good for me to deal with them. Erika
