Sad...but finally desiring to do something about it.

Hi. I had surgery 4 years ago. I only lost 68 pounds and have since gained almost all of it back. Needless to say, I'm extremely frustrated and just gave up for a while. However, now I have an almost insatiable hunger with true hunger pains and if I DON'T eat, I get nauseated. Has this happened to anyone else postop? I'm making an appointment to see my doctor next week. (Something I should've done a long time ago.) Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and what it could possibly mean. Thanks.

You really do need to see a doctor. None of your post sounds right for RNY surgery. Good luck.

When I don't eat, I get nauseated, too, but for me, that's normal. Is this a new thing for you? If so, perhaps you have a staple-line disruption? What are you eating? Have you gone back to basics to see if that helps? Have you considered a revision? I hope that you find your answers. Good luck. --BT

When I did that after 3 years out, I had an ulcer - but I had other signs too. I was tired (fatigued) all the time and weak, and it felt like hunger so I ate a lot...When I did not eat, it hurt on my left side where the anastomosis (outlet) was. So, as you see, it could be one of several things, and seeing your doctor is the most prudent thing for you.. I applaud the fact that you are striking back and wanting to make a change. After I got my blood counts up and finally feeling better, I am exercising and eating right mostly. I have cut out sugar and am eating less bad carbs, I feel sooooo much better. I just wish I had seen my doctor sooner! I believe you are on the right track. Let us know how you are doing especially after your doctor visit. DeAnna
