Questions..Questions...
I am scheduled for my RNY Nov. 29th.. I have more concern about Long term effects of the surgery... I was wondering if anyone on the board has been post op for a long time and could give me some more information on long term side effects of the surgery.. I'm very nervous about all of this.. One day I say yes, the next I'm scared to death.. Fear for my kids that something down the line may cause problems for me...
These are normal concerns right???
Thanks for any input..Sandi.
These are very normal concerns . As to long term . If you stick to your protein , water , vitamine regimine .. Take your calcium and all of your suppliments . You should regain your life and live a long time .
The key here is to keep your focus on your daily requirements and your new lifestyle . It is not easy , but it is not rocket science either .
If you like you can read my profile . I am 2.5 years out .I have lost 200 pounds .. maintence is going great .. . Labs are great .. my health is great .. other than this adrenal tumor that I am dealing with , but is not WLS related . I would do this again everyday and 2 x on Sunday .
If you want also , I have some literature i could send you that may help you better understand what you are about to undergo ..
My email address is [email protected]
Email me and I will be happy to help you .

The key to success in the long run is being aware of chnges in your health and body and doing something about them before they become serious problems. Get your full labs (They used to call it a chem-25) twice a year. Take your vitamins and drink or eat your protein. You have to be aware of any changes in your your blood levels. Irona nd calcium and protein levels are very important. Taking a B-12 complex supplemement and or possibly shots is a good thing. You will no longer be able to absorb B-12 and B-1 through your digestive track. Loss of these vitamins can severely damage your health. You must take these through sublingual tablets/liquid or through shos for life. Loss of B vitamins can cause neuropathy, memory loss, depression, lack of energy as well as a plethora of other problems.
When you commit to surgery, you commit to vitamin supplementation for life. Consider your vitamins as important as a diabetic needs insulin. It's that important.
tomorrow will be my 1 year anniversary from surgery.. it is one of the best things I have done in my life. Please, don't try and dig all the dirt that you can about the possible negative side of surgery. I did the same thing. I even thought for myself that If i had the surgery I had to be prepared to possibly die that day. I cried all the way up until they put me under. i wanted to back down so bad because of all the bad things I had heard. but i still did it.. and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have the surgery done. don't scare yourself so much. just think that if it was meant to be.. then God will let everything run smoothly enough to make the surgery happen.
