Have trouble lossing last 50 to 60 pounds thinking of starting weigh****cher?
I have been really struggleing with my eatting. I have been able to maintain my weight. I been snacking which I know is no no. I been eating out with co-workers just making some bad choses. I have to admit that I ate way way worse prior to sugury and have made some postive changes. I do have problems with meal planning and I have always had that problem. Its like I need someone to tell me exactly what to eat for each meal and portion it out for me. But unfortunlaly I can not afford a cook. So I thought for my last 50 to 60 pounds Weigh****chers may do the trick. I can buy their meals and try cooking a bit. I know I still have to watch the sugar intake. Has anyone had this problem and tried a weight loss plan such as this after surgury?
I guess I just want to make sure I am not going to make things worse.
Hey, Wendy, I too am trying to figure out how to drop my last 50-60 pounds. I started at 396 and have lost 172, so this last 50-60 is going to be a challenge.
I'm just coming off an 8-week "stall." I used quotations marks because I didn't really "stall," but I was eating a lot more calories and a lot more carbs that I had been. So my calories crept up to between 1800-2000 calories per day. And although I didn't gain any weight, I wasn't losing any more either.
I'm currently struggling with both real hunger and head hunger. I can manage the head hunger pretty well most of the time just by recognizing what it is; if it continues, I drink 16-24 ounces of water or Propel to fill my pouch. That seems to help turn off the head hunger because my belly realizes it's full.
For the real hunger, I'm trying a new approach. I'm eating 5 mini-meals over the course of my work-day, then I exercise for about 40 minutes, followed by a high protein dinner that's usually around 500 calories. So depending on the day, I eat between 1500-1800 calories. I try to keep my mini-meals around 200 calories, so I average 1000 calories, not counting dinner. My mini-meals include things like:
* venti non-fat latte from Starbucks
* two hard-boiled eggs
* 1 cup cottage cheese w/ 3 tbsp. SF preserves
* medium apple w/ 1 oz. low-fat cheese
* one slice multigrain bread w/ turkey, low-fat cheese & mustard (can add lettuce, onion, tomato, etc.)
* soup (whatever is around 200 calories - look for low sodium)
* small Wendy's chili
* 8 oz. low-fat, low-sugar yogurt w/ 1 tbsp. ground flaxseed
* Lean Cuisine frozen meals (usually around 240-260 calories)
* venti Frappuccino light from Starbucks (no whipped cream)
Basically, anything that healthy and around 200 calories is fair game for me. I've been following this routine for about 2 weeks now and have dropped about 10 pounds already. So for now, it's working.
Regarding Weigh****chers, I think it's a great idea if it's something that will work for you. Their program provides structure, moral support, accountability, plus it's easy to follow.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope we're both successful in getting rid of this last 50-60 pounds!

Thanx for the suggustions on mini meals. I was told from day one to do mini meals through out the day and I have heard others say not too. It seems every plan is different and everyones body is different so what works for one person doesn't always work for others I am starting to learn. But I thinking the structure of Weigh****cher may work for me and if I can remember they have you eat several mini meals during a day. I started out at 308 and have lost 100lbs.
Are you exercising? That has really helped me. The last 50 pounds have been slow, but they will come off. I have had a couple of weeks where the scale doesn't budge, or I have gained up to 2 pounds because of making bad choices. I weigh every other day, which keeps me on top of things. I know you probably shouldn't weigh that often, but it keeps me focused. You will have to increase your exercise, increase your water and try to change up your calorie intake. I started eating a little more calories one day and less another, instead of eating the same thing every day. That kind of got things kick-started. Good luck!!
I kick started my weight loss (also have 50-60 pounds to lose) by first, exercising - had to find something I liked, so swimming laps 3 days a week, and taking karate class with my kid - going to add some weights to this soon. And, second, scheduling meals and snacks - I have breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, and supper. I am also sugar free now (that was a BIG step for me). I don't seem to want or crave carbs so much now, I guess cutting the sugar help with that craving. My snacks are generally something with protein - Atkins protein bar, imitation cheese, crab meat, protein shake, carb free yogurt (kroger brand with whey protein - 12gm protein), cottage cheese - kind of like mini meals. Kind of goes along with what she said about several "mini meals" during the day...I am determined to lose this weight now......
I think Weigh****chers is a great idea also. Seems to be a good plan to follow.

I am also having trouble with the last 40 pounds. I have been at a stall for several weeks. I appreciate the input and I am gonna try the mini-meals also. I am determined to never gain my weight back. I feel so good now and I am able to do so many things that I could not do before. I just want to feel like this for the rest of my life. Carmen

Hi Shirl Awwww... I was so hoping that it would get easier Everyone keeps telling me I took the easy way out Yea right. Anyway...thank you for the response. I would so appreciate any meals or ideas you might send my way. I have not gained, but I am at a stall right now and need to lose 40 more pounds. I also want to find healthy things to eat if I get hungry between meals. I truly appreciate anything I can get to help me on this journey. Thank you soooo much. Carmen
Sorry ,,,,,,,,, for me the trip hasnt gotten easier ...Well let me say , I no longer crave eating like I used to , but if I eat carbs alot etc I will gain..
The easy way out is a joke as I have heard that too... Nothing easy about it ..
This is my menu of sorts Carmen.
For breakfast .. I toast 2 slices Double fiber wheat bread with a slice of 2& sharp cheddar cheese on it in the toaster oven ( both total equal 200 calories ) and low carb because of the double fiber, and take to the office .. I eat one at 8 and 1 about 9-930.. At 1030 -1045 I eat anything I want that has about 100-150 calories ..
Sometimes it is one pack of that Weight Control Cinnamon oatmeal that has the protein in it made with water and I add a tsp of that butter sustitute ...very good to me .
Lunch I will have meat and salad or a green veggie or a Chef Salad or grilled chicken salad.. I use only the Wishbone Just 2 salad dressings and a limited amount of that .
Snack about 3:00 i ,,,I eat alot of the 2% lowfat string Mozerella cheese sticks so I will have 2 of these usually ( 140 ) calories or anything in that calorie range that is filling ..cottage cheese , a small apple with one tablespoon peanut butter is approx 175 calories ...Even though a little higher in calories it keeps me full so that I dont have as much at dinner..
Dinner is meat and veggies ( stay away from potatoes corn and rice if at all possible or eat very small amounts ..
I love Pumpkin pie so I devised one that is sugar free and low low cards that I keep on hand made up at all times in fridge so when the snack monster calls , especially after supper sometimes , I have some of that with sugar free coolwhip ..
I drink lots of water all day , unsweet tea sweetened with Splenda , and YES , COKE ZERO ..
I also exercise everyday of some type ... I also do weight training at the gym on my own , no trainer, and at least 30 min areobic type exercise with that ... Makes a huge difference I think .
I have the Leslie Sansone Walk tapes I do at home if I dont want to go to the gym to exercise . SHe had a 5 mile out now that is awesome and very good . I use it alot ..
I dont belong to a support group as my Dr 's Office didnt have one to be honest. There was one but noone was in it lol .. I went a few times but there was never anyone there but one or two and it lacked alot soooooooooooooooooo . it has been kinda on my own ...
Sorry so long ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I hope some of this helps
