Taking Iron - the rules
Tesha, I buy the Tender Iron from Vitalady. I take 6 of them a day with 1 chewable vitamin C. My labs in June were great. I did take the Gentle Iron from Walmart before and although the labs were fine, I feel much better with this iron.
My surgeon originally said to take Ferrous Sulfate, OMG that killed my pouch, made me hurt something terribly.
My understanding is Ferrous fumarate and iron polysaccharide are the better options for us post-op. Be sure to take vitamin C with the iron for better absorption.
Please do get with Dr. Davis and get something soon, if your iron tanks it's quiet challenging to bring the numbers up, even could lead to iron infusions needed if too low.

I take Niferex-150 and these were the instructions I was given:
Niferex-150 Capsules is absorbed better on an empty stomach but may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. Do not take it within 1 hour before or 2 hours after antacids, eggs, whole grain breads, cereal, milk products, tea or coffee. Take Niferex-150 Capsules with a full glass (8 oz./240 ml) of water. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this medicine.
