Forgot I have weight issues...

So I'm over two years out, right? I started out at 291lbs and reached my goal of 145 before my one year anniversary. I was down to to 135 ish but bounced back a little which I was perfectly fine with. I've been comfortable between 140 and 145 for the past year. Well that's the background. Now my weight is slowly creeping up. I tell myself I'm just bloated and then I help myself to an extra lean pocket... because it's lean and doesn't count. Or another piece of candy, because it's just one. I don't know what exactly I'm trying to say, I just really needed to vent. My sister told me she could tell I was gaining today. VERY depressing because my sister is oblivious. Argh.

Don't beat yourself up...we are all in this boat because of the same issues....They didnt take the issues...just changed the size of the tummy....Go back to basics.... Protien first...then veggies and frui****er..>Water...and More Water....Vitamins...Start anew each day and you can win this battle....Look how far you have come .....Hang in there!

Thank you for responding, it's been so long since I've visited the boards... everything is different! I've always been pretty religious about my vitamins, I can be proud of that. I think my biggest problem is lately I've been a social eater. I eat with my roomate when I get home, then I eat with my sister when she gets home, etc... I'm working on my next shopping list right now and it's looking good. I also gave my sister my stash of halloween candy and told her to hide it. Just have to worry about work and school eating now.

Hi Ashley! I'm 2 1/2 years out (open rny) and lost around 135lbs. I've maintained pretty well since for almost a year and then in the last 2 months I've gained 6 lbs!!! YIKES! I have all of the sudden been able to eat foods I couldn't before without repercussions , so I have been testing my boundaries. Today is the RED FLAG day, I weighed and I was shocked. I have been desparately afraid of regaining and being fat again so it was a rude awakening! I have been away from the boards for a while but was drawn back today when I realized I needed to get back on track and SOON!! I understand how you're feeling. I was depressed about it today, but I'm going to work hard on reinforcing earlier habits and stop being tempted to try out stuff I KNOW I don't need to be eating!

Thank you for responding ladies!! It's so nice to know that I'm not alone. Yesterday I went without my extra bedtime supper and I didn't snack at school, yeah me!!! I'm hitting the water hard which isn't too difficult right now because being stuck around heaters all the time is drying me out. I'm very excited for my next shopping trip, just gotta wait for payday. I've never been much for exercise. Me and my roomate keep talking about starting a routine but it scares me. I ALWAYS get sick when I exercise (it's been like that since I was 10) but I figure there has to be something out there for me. Thanks again and if any of you need a shoulder, please feel free to call on me. Sometimes I feel like a walking WLS book... I just don't put it into practice all of the time. Ashley

Well,, I am there right with you,, except I never reached my goal,, I wanted to be at 150lbs,, but I stopped at 175,, well now i am up to 180lbs,,, i am not happy,, but I do eat more,, and just recently started drinking soda,, only 1 a day mon thru thurs (i hide it from my hubby) which I know is wrong,, but now I am weaning myself off of it.. I know my problems and want to fix them,, but for some reason my brain says,, "you can have this one last time",,, but its never the last time... So I am playing the old head game again.. its why I was so fat for so long..... I need someone to come and knock me over the head, maybe that will rattle something inside,,,,, So honey its not just you,, its most of us.. I call it the "fat girl syndrome". I am gonna be brave today,, I gotta hidden bag of dark chocolate m&m's... gonna throw them away,, and not just put the closed bag on top of the trash.. gonna dump those babies out! You do the same!! Such good advice - I'm there with both of you, only farther - I lost down to about 175, I was actually very happy there, would have liked to have gotten down to 150 (at 5'9" that is pretty small for me - I could wear 12-14 at 175).....But I actually gained back up to 229, and that is scary! But, I did have an ulcer I did not know I had, so went through about a year of fatigue that felt like hungry and tired - NOW, my iron is back on track, blood levels good....I've gotten back to exercising a few weeks ago, and JUST cut out sugar yesterday, but already feel SOOOOOO much better.....So, it is going to take us encouraging each other to get there, but we can. Are you exercising? If not, find something you like to do, start slow but steady if you have to, and make maybe just one or two adjustments in your eating for a week - maybe cut out candy (that was a BIG one for me, but it made me want to cut out lots of other things), and go back to not drinking when you eat (another big one for me)....Did you throw out those M&Ms?!!! I went thru an emotional eating time where I gained too~its so hard! Don't beat yourself up, just pick yourself up by the boot straps so to speak and get back on the wagon! The first few days are difficult, but you'll get those extra pounds off. I'm worried about the upcoming holidays b/c I can eat so much more now~some sugar included~and that could be dangerous. I just know that I didn't come this far to screw it up now so I'm willing to do whatever it takes not to gain. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"

you can do this, you've been doing it all along. I have gained and lost 20 pounds with the seasons the last seven years. I have athyroid that stopped working after surgery, everyday is new just breathe and remember what it felt like before. I have found that I have been able to maintain my weight through finding meaning in the little things. I also realized I never healed the wounds tat caused my obedity in the first place and went to therapy, which I still do and am proud to say so. Do whatever you need to take care of you and everything will eventuall follow, i promise.
