I'm tired...
of dumping. Almost every day, I think, since last week and I have no clue what I'm dumping on. Just not sure what my body isn't liking. Last week, I had chinese for lunch one day and dumped shortly thereafter. Abdominal pain, bloating, the usual. I hadn't dumped many times over the span of 17 months but enough to know that incidental sugars are issues so avoid the real deal. But now, I'm not sure if it is artificial sweeteners or fat or lactose issues or what. I do not think I've changed anything in the last week or two. I seem to eat the same things I always have. Had the dumping quite bad a few times - very painful. This just s*cks.
Now I'm going to have to do the elimination diet... tomorrow I'll skip my vitamins and my partial apple and just stick to meat proteins and protein shakes and see if that stops it. If so then I'll start adding things back in.
Not fun. Not fun at all.
Kathy
Bloating and abdominal pain is usually a reaction to sugar alcohols or other artificial sweetners. Counld even be milk products. When I dump, I don't get that. I get dizzy, hotflashes, rapid heartbeat, disoriented and sometimes nausea. I also get an Overwhelming feeling that I need to lie down. Chinese food is the worst culprit but high fat is the worst.
Start logging everything you eat, when you eat it and quantity. I sounds like alot to write down, but it really helps the process of elimination.

Haven't been having any sugar alcohols so that's out.
Artificial sweetners yep... sweet n' low in coffee, splenda is in my protein shakes. But I haven't changed anything.
My doc is the one who told me my symptoms were dumping. I had it early on post-op after some high protein cereal and Outback salmon. In general it has happen rarely. Had it happen a couple of times off a Power Crunch bar but funny... the time of day I ate it seemed to make a difference. If I had it early in the a.m., I was fine. But in the afternoon - dumpsy. I assumed that rate of absorption of it was different after a workout then other time of day or something. The body works in most mysterious ways.
Yup, a food log and symptom diary is on from tomorrow on to figure out what is triggering thing.
Plus my right side pain under ribs appears too. That comes and goes. Been through hoardes of tests. That seems to be triggered by citric acid like in Vitamin C tablets (chewable) or the lemonade mix (no sweetner) I add into my one protein shake.
My life through science...
Thanks!!

I've kind of had the same thing happen. I've been eating the same stuff and now, whammo, I've had abdominal pains, gas bad enough to clear out the whole town, and sometimes diarrhea. Then after about an hour, I'm fine.
I guess the only good thing that's come out of it, is I've been losing weight again, partly because I get bloated and just can't eat anymore, and I'm only about 5 lbs from goal now. I'm a little concerned because I feel like I'm losing too fast for this stage. I actually lost 6 lbs this week and a total of about 10 lbs for the month. I know it's just because I've felt too crappy to eat what I should. Guess I better drink more protein shakes.
So, like you, I better start going back to the beginning and slowly add stuff to my diet to find out what might be triggering this. Just so odd that I haven't really changed much. Well good luck on your problem, hope you find out what's causing it.
And wish me luck, I've entered my first timed half marathon on Sunday. Still can't jog very far but I hope I can at least beat my time on the timed walk I did a few weeks ago.

Hey Kathy!!
That DOES s*ck!!! I don't have words if wisdom though- just wanted to say hey and was sorry to hear you are suffering. Broth? Maybe I DO have a suggestion! Like you havn't tried that already! Oatmeal?
I'd say "cookies", but then you's think I was being a smartass or hinting - - - and maybe a little of both?
But honestly- the word just automatically rolls off my fingers for some reason. And a cookie always makes ME smile!!
Feel better sweetie- have Rich massage your feet - just because!
