How much more weight did you lose?
You've done great. I lost about 80-83% of my excess weight, in my case, that equates to 107 lbs in a year. I'm just past 17 months and I've since lost about 20 lbs more and only 6 lbs from my goal. Don't get discouraged. Just keep doing what you're supposed to. Remember, this is for life and it doesn't really matter how long it takes. I'm pretty much eating now how I should be eating forever. I can splurge once in awhile but I still find that I'm not nearly as hungry as I thought I'd be. My meals are still below 12 oz. and generally I eat fairly healthy. Actually, lately, I've going thru that stage where nothing really sounds good and I just eat cuz I need to. I just started losing again after a very long plateau. I'm finding that losing 6 lbs in 1 month makes me tired and weak. At this stage, losing 6 lbs in 1 month is a very high percentage of excess fat so that would account for the tiredness/weakness.
Forget about that myth of 12-18 months. I've talked to several in my support group and they are still losing at 2 years out. Sure it comes off slower but you have a lot less to lose now.
So, keep fighting and don't give up.

I lost almost all my excess weight the first year out, I lost 6 more pounds in month 13 and didn't really loose anything else. My BMI in July before surgery was 53, 49 the day of surgery and now is 25.7. I did have a ten pound bounceback weight with taking paxil. I was not too happy about it. Luckily I was able to buckle down and loose it again. It's not easy, but it easier then before surgery. We still have our tool. I'd like to loose 5 to 10 more pounds but I'm stable so that makes me pretty happy. So, yes, you can still loose even after the honeymoon period, it's just not gonna come off as easy or as fast.
I hit my surgeon's goal at 1yr~his goal for me was 165lbs and I lost 164lbs bringing to a weight of 164lbs~I lost half of myself in 1 year! I'm currently 19mths post op and most days I'm 150lbs so I lost another 14lbs after my year anniversary. I don't know that the window closed so much as I was at a low weight for me (I'm 5'9") so my body just naturally slowed down. Congratulations to you on 125lbs lost~that's fantastic!!!!!!!!

I stopped losing at about the 10 month mark after losing nearly 140 pounds... That was ok because I was just a few pounds under my surgeon's low-goal and well past her high goal. I stayed steady, within 1-4 pounds from March until just this past month and suddenly I'm losing again. I'm almost 10 pounds under my average and 5 pounds under my previous lowest weight.
Tami,
I'd lost all my weight within a year but attribute that to walking the tight rope. I also started running five months post-op, which led to a steady loss. I weighed in at 308 the morning of surgery and now weigh 133. My BMI was 53.4 pre-op and is presently 22.8--lower than I thought it would ever be. I wasn't as focussed on a specific goal weight as I was a size and wanted to be a size 8. I'm a 4/6. I still can't believe it!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Hello Tami --
I lost 186 pounds my first 12 months ....then it took FOREVER to lose the additional 55 pounds I needed to lose to be at a "normal" BMI. Forever is defined as 8 additional months. The rapid pace of weight loss slowed down dramatically after those first 12 months, which is probably why I was so strict on myself on "getting it right" during that phase.
Good luck to you - Lei
