I do 6 small meals and 100oz of water daily. A typical day for me~ B~NSA CIB shake (drink this b/c I have a hard time eating right away in a.m.) S~1 C cottage cheese L~salad w/shaved deli turkey, cheese, croutons, ranch S~stawberries w/cool whip or banana w/pb D~chicken breast, veggie or chili (hardest meal for me b/c I never know what to eat) S~1/2 C Fiber One cereal w/skim milk (have to have this daily due to constipation issues) I also like cheese sticks, yogurt, s/f pudding. Occassionally I allow myself some Wheat Thins, nachos w/cheese and s/f candy~have to be careful with these though. I truly enjoy eating now and I eat pretty much like a "normal person". Hope this helps! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"

I try to eat about 5 times a day. It doesn't always work out that way so that's when I grab protein shakes or bars. I started my pre-plastics protein overload diet today. So most of my meals are totally packed with protein and nothing else. But typically I'll eat this B-Cheese sticks, 1/2 whole grain wheat bagel with cream cheese S-Protein shake or bar L-a small salad or high protein meal like shrimp. S-Protein bar or shake D-Steak, salad, veggies etc.

Lo carb OATMEAL w/ 1% milk!!! (makes for a VERY "REGULAR" bathroom visit the next morning!) hot herbal tea I only do a Protein Bar if I'm unable to get a "food snack" in. The rest of the time I eat! Take care! Judy

Thanks everyone! You've been very helpful. My mom is seriously considering the surgery now that Im getting closer to having mine done but she was worried that she would never be able to eat normal again- and I told her YES YOU WILL. Just small portions, protien will be your best friend, and no JUNK (cuz your not supposed to eat that anyways, even without surgery!) So she is seeing her PCP today for a referral. Im excited!

Hi Angela ... I think my biggest fear prior to surgery was not being able to eat the things I REALLY liked as a post-op (yeah, pretty warped that that was my biggest fear, but I'm sure I wasn't alone with that notion). So ... I had a last meal ... in fact, a series of "last meals". I started a few months prior to surgery, had a list of the things which I wanted to have a "last taste". I didn't go crazy, maybe went out twice a week or so. Turns out, I can eat almost anything I did pre-op (with the exception of sugary foods and even then, there is a LOT made with Splenda, which I can do), just not in the same quantities, or in the same day. Also be warned, some people CAN and DO do sugar, and carbs are quite "do-able" too ... and these can get you in trouble. I had a 20 pound weight gain between my 15th and 25th months post-op ... and it freaked me out. BIG TIME. Good luck to you and your mom. Karyn

Thanks Karyn! You look wonderful. I am trying to avoid the last supper syndrome but it is a big challenge. My mom just got back from the doctors and got her referral, now I just need mine! My appointment with the surgeon is in 15 days!

Hi, Angela! Fiften more days . . . wow! Even though it was just 19 months ago, it seems a lifetime! I remember thinking I'd never eat like a "normal" person again. Glad I was wrong! LOL! B-fast - Cream of Wheat made with milk, and then I add 1 scoop Champion Pure Whey Stack Banana protein powder. (35g protein) Snack - protein shake (31 g protein) Lunch - 3oz albacore, 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup applesauce (27g protein) Snack - 8oz container of yogurt (8g protein) Dinner - 2oz baked chicken, 1/4 mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup mixed greens w/shredded cheese and ranch dressing (16g protein) Total protein for the day: 117g I try to keep my protein over 100 because I run. The first year post-op, I was religous about not consuming more than 20 grams of fat each day because that's the guideline they gave for successful weight loss. It worked! I still keep it less than 30. Which surgery are you having? Savanah

~3300 calories.. I eat every 2 hours. This is an example of an average day. Wakeup - Protein Shake Breakfast - Steel cut oats & fruit w/ protein shake (I mix them together..pretty tasty ) Meal 2 - 3 eggs, 5oz pinaple Meal 3 - cottage cheese w/ fruit Meal 4 - PB&J on 12 grain and an apple Meal 5 - 2oz Beef Jerky and an apple Meal 6 - 1oz almonds and an apple Meal 7 - Beef stew w/ noodles (or whatever my wife cooked for dinner ) Meal 8 - Cottage Cheese & a protein shake. I get in 200 to 250g of protein a day and drink a gallon and a half of water. I'm also a guy and I do heavy weight training 6 days a week, so eating like this is a requirement for me.
