Post the things that you'd like to work on in the next 8 weeks. The challenge will last from today until Christmas day which is as you many have guessed - 8 weeks from today. Makes some positive changes. Work on getting in your water or vitamins. Work on getting in your protein. Working on moving your body to get it fit and toned. We'll have a weekly check in for those participating. Remember you can jump in at any time. Some suggestions of things to keep in mind: 1. Try not to post "I want to lose 10 lbs by Christmas" - we all know this far post-op that it is hard to truly gauge how much weight our bodies will lose and how fast/slow it will go. It would be wiser to chose eating, water, vitamin and fitness goals that might yield weight loss when done consistently over the 8 week period. 2. Try not commit to doing anything every single solitary day during the 8 weeks. Do not set yourself up for failure from the start. We all know that is derned near impossible to do something every day. Illness, problems, work, family and just plain life gets in the way. Setting a goal of "I'm going to get 100 oz of water in and all my vitamins in at least 5 days a week every week" is better than saying you are going to do it 7 days a week. See my point? (See I actually did pay attention at Weigh****chers and other therapy type meetings). 3. Be sure to set yourself some cool reward at the end for a job well done. Whether it is buying yourself something if it is in the budget, a spa treatment, or just going to the library and getting a good book and allowing yourself the free time to doing nothing else but sit and read - go for it! So what'll it be. Name your own poison. LOL!

Sounds like fun - I am working on them now. I have so many things I want to work on! I think I am going to have my staff do this as well as a motivator! LOL!!! Great idea! Valerie

Thanks for the challenge - I just started swimming laps last week, so hopefully a "jump start".... 1. Write down food intake, journaling, and watching calories, having a written food plan for the day. This is a BIG one for me. 2. Keep exercising at least 5 days a week. 3. Not having too much trouble with water intake, but keep a watch on that. (luckily no problems with supplements either). At the end will buy myself a nice outfit that fits well. DeAnna

I'm glad that you posted this! I have been thinking about setting myself up for a good challenge for a few weeks now but it's so hard to do alone. I've maintained my weight loss but I feel like I can do better to keep myself on track and maybe tone up some. These are some things that I am going to challenge myself to do over the next 8 weeks~~ 1)exercise~I've really slacked off on this one for about a month. I'm going to commit myself to 3-5 workouts a week and add in some weight training..I've lost ALOT of muscle mass. 2)protein~I've slacked off on this one too for about a month. I'm going to challenge myself to choose higher protein meals and snacks. 3)water~this one is hard for me and I know the importance of getting my fluids in. I know right now, I've been getting in maybe 20-30 oz a day. I'm going to shoot for 40 oz and work my way up from there. To reward myself, I'd like to go and get my hair professionally done..highlights and a nice cut.

Ok, count me in! 1. Try to increase my exercise~cardio and light weight training. I'm good about doing my cardio daily, but I'd like to increase it just a bit. I'm not as good about keeping up with the weight training, so I will make an effort to do it 2-3x's per week. 2. Hope to lose a few pounds b4 the holidays, just so I can feel good about me! 3. Try to make time for myself during the busy holiday season. I never have alot of "me time" but I will try to find some for myself. Tracy B

OK....OK.....OK......... I'll challenge myself to get back into the routine of exercising at least 5 times a week and to make good food choices through the upcoming holidays (it's so hard to be good at work...you should see this place). I'll reward myself with a day at the spa. Janice

Kathy, what an excellent idea. I am so into this challenge. I sure have found myself being a slacker lately. Even so bad as this weekend I didn't take my vitamins like I should, yes I know the consequences. These are the areas I'll be working on: 1) Drinking my water on the weekends, do well during the week, weekends are something else. 2) Staying away from sugar, yes bad me.....gosh I wish I never tried it or I wish I dumped so bad I wouldn't want to suffer. 3) Pledge to do some type of exercise.....I have an elliptical sitting in my study collecting dust. 4) Getting back to drinking at a minimum 1 protein shake a day.....I feel much better when I up my protein, so why don't I do it . Thank goodness I'm still maintaining, I can definitely see a slippery slope developing. Dana

I'd like to get in on the challenge. 1. Workout 3-5 days per week, increasing resistance each week. I just started a fitness program, and I'm noticing the benefits of exercise. 2. Get in my water, at least 64oz 3. Make healthy snack choices. This is going to be a hard one, I've got to think about it a little bit and pinpoint exactly what I want to do here. Maybe I'll go with no snacking after 8:00 pm Monday - Friday. 4. Stick with the challenge for the next 8 weeks. My goal is to look and feel good for my birthday....December 19. I have a couple of outfits in my closet I have yet to fit into. Teah

Well, since I'm having my plastics, I'd like to get through surgery, heal well and hopefully be walking upright by christmas. I hope to loose about 10 pounds between the surgery and then. I'm doing protein drinks for the rest of the week. I trying to get 150-200 grams a day to prpr for surgery. I think between "protein loading" and taking arnica and bromelain I will heal well. My reward will be Leather. Leather pants or skirt, maybe a Harley Jacket. Jane
