3 things....

Hey Steph ... too funny, my gastroenterologist (who's 'specialty' is gallbladders) said my unexplained abdominal pains couldn't be gallbladder probs, yet when I told a family practice doc the SAME symptoms, he said "I bet its your gallbladder, I want you to do a HIDAscan" ... sure enough, my gallbladder isn't functioning right. So much for 'specialists', eh? I did 3 tests with the gastroenterologist (small bowel xray series, abdominal ct scan and endoscopy), and then his office would no longer return my calls (I guess because I asked if it could just all be in my head ... he went off on me ... long story). Anyway, a HIDAscan determines how your gallbladder is functioning (or if it is). Normal ejection fraction rate is between 35-75% ... mine was at 30% ... the two surgeons I talked to about having my gallbladder removed both say it should come out, but they don't seem to think its urgent to take it out right away, so ... they don't have to tell me twice! Anyway, I'm glad you seem to be getting somewhere ... please keep us posted ... and congrats on the job! Looks like things are piecing together! Take care, Karyn

aren't doctors wonderful...i guess i just have to remember that they're just human too. all i know is that if it's bad enough that i have the option to leave it or take it out...i want it out. i'd rather get it over with now. i'm planning on having my tummy tuck sometime next year and i'd like to get this taken care of before that. plus i'm having my tubes tied and i'd like to get all this kind of stuff done before the tummy tuck. i will definitely keep you guys posted!

well, you're one up on me ... for a few reasons I don't want mine removed. BUT, enjoy that half and half ... I actually fell asleep during my HIDAscan. Too bad you can't just get everything done at once!!

oh, and I COMPLETELY agree with you about docs being human. I don't mind if my doc doesn't know everything, but as long as they're willing to look into it and work with me (and God-forbid, listen to lowly me?), maybe think outside the box ... instead of going off on me and not getting back to me at all, I would have liked my gastroenterologist to say what the family practice doc said (and yes, I asked him too if it could "all just be in my head" as well) ... "well, let's find out" ... just more of an open mind I guess ... and even if they're having a bad day, that's fine too ... we all do, but hell, I was just trying to find an answer too ... I don't complain much, but when I do, I'm kinda at the end of my rope and know something needs to be figured out. Oh well ... I was just going over my new insurance terms and rates for next year, and I guess my doc visits will have to be scaled back next year -- immensely ... so maybe I'm supposed to just learn how to deal with it. Wow, am I in a *****y mood today or what? Time for more coffee me thinks. But honestly, the best to you Steph ... I look forward to an update!

Hey girl, I'm going to try the pumpkin mousse recipe. For someone that hated pumpkin pre-op I crave it now, even adding it to my vanilla cinnamon protein every once in a while. As for the hidascan.....I had one done, not bad you'll feel a slight sensation when they inject the contrasting stuff (don't know what it's called, lol) but it'll tell you allot, hope that is what is causing you the problems so your surgeon can yank that baby out, lol. Best wishes on the job, I hope it works out well for you. Dana

Thank you so much miss dana! i'm telling you be prepared for that pumpkin mousse. it's sooooo good. i had to hide it from myself in the back of the fridge. it's addicting. it's bad because i'm a cool whip aholic too. and it just tastes like the pie and cool whip all in one. yummo!! i sure do hope this scan shows something and that it finds the problem! i won't hold my breath though...i couldn't get so lucky!
