Hi Everyone. I'm a yr out and have not lost any weight in about 3 months or so. I have lost about 75 pounds to date. I started at 370. I started changing my diet to include more protein. I have joined the gym and got a trainer in the last month. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get my weight loss going again. I'm not eating alot, eating heathly. No fast food. Still have night time eating. Any suggestions on how to break this habit. My doctor has given me sleeping pills, but I find myself eating and not knowing it till the next day, when I have crumbs in my bed. I'm also feeling like a failure. Does anyone else feel like this????? Thanks

Are you taking Ambien? There are stories out there of night time eating on that med. Kathy

Ambien made my brother get up in the middle of the night and make himself peanut butter sandwiches. He'd wake up with peanut butter all over him. Sounds humorous to some, but it's a serious thing. Askk the doc to switch you to Lunesta or try going all-natural and take Melatonin and Valerian. I take Melatonin and love it. Ambien made me feel terrible every morning.

I take Ambien but had to stop for awhile because of the nighttime eating. I would try and eat my last meal around 7 but after you take the pill its like you are sleep eating. I would wake up with trail mix in my bed, not all the way chewed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in my mouth... you name it I ate it!!! I told my brother about it cause I was gaining weight.... the very next week it came out on the news that many people are "Sleep eating" We tend to eat very high fat or sugary foods and they dont know why. I tried to switch to Lunesta (yuck) it didnt work for me. Now when I take my pills I have my husband make sure that I am in bed and STAY in bed. Keep up with the gym and trainer and maybe try and push you last meal back to a later time??? Good luck and best wishes to you

Wow, that is what I'm doing.. Yes I'm on Ambien. I ate two choc chip muffins and didn't even know it. I woke up with Choc all over my clothes and my brother told me to check out my trashcan in my room, well there was two wrappers. I guess I must eat sandwiches too, I find pieces of bread with me too. I guess i'm not the only one. I go back to the doctor next month, so I will talk to her about switching me. The reason I was put on it, is because I don't sleep and tend to pick at night. So I thought this would cure this problem. I sleep much better!!!!! I guess you can't win. I will start eating around 7. I'm going to start cutting out all the carbs again. Thanks for all your support.

Wow, that's scary about eating at night due to the medication! I never heard of that before! You're not a failure at all! Some just lose slower than others. It sounds like you're on the right track with eating healthy protein, cutting out carbs and going to the gym. I drink about 100oz of water daily and when trying to lose weight, I stay around 1500cal per day (1800 for maintenance). Finding the right caloric intake for you is sometimes the hardest part b/c you don't want to cut back too far and go into starvation mode and you don't want to overdo and gain~urgh, its a never ending battle and so much of it is trial and error b/c what works for one doesn't for another. Congratulations on 75lbs lost! Good Luck to You! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"

I take equate sleep aid liquidcaps. I take one about 30 minutes before I want to sleep and sleep at least 7 hours. And I don't night time eat! That is awful that "they" don't stress that to people taking Ambien. My doctor always says use the four rules for life: protein firs****er, exercise, and NO SNACKING. Snacking is chips, fritos (my downfall), cookies, ice cream. And he suggests no "P's", potatoes, pasta, carb-kind of stuff. I started at 321 day of surgery and I'm right around 133 give or take 5 pounds. I was as high as 367 four months before surgery! So hang in...your only a year out and you have another good 6 months. Not as good as the first six months but still good. Go for it girlfriend. Work out, eat right and don't give up! What's the alternative????
