Grads, I am 2 yrs out. Have had 3 episodes of sharp pain at my pouch area that could last at times for 6-8 hrs, not the intense pain the whole time, but it would come and go. The odd thing is it didn't move down like gas would. I tried to pinpoint it to a food and even went for a X-ray which was negative. I had an appt with my surgeon last night and ordered a barium CT scan. Told me it could possibly be a herina between the pouch and the small intestine where the attachement is made. Also could be why I am having mild constipation trouble he said. Has anyone had this experience? Please, do tell. Thanks, Tammy

Your doing the right thing in getting in checked out. I'm not a doctor (sometimes I play one on the internet though lol), but have they done an endoscopy on you yet? I was having horrible pains mostly 2-3 hours after I ate. Turned out my pouch was full of ulcers. I also had constipation with it because one of the ulcers was onmy stoma. Mention getting an endo, It can't hurt to go in and take a look. Things like that don't show on a CT scan. Jane

Hi, I'm a little over 2 years out. I have lost 147 lbs. I had the same problem that your talking about my surgen did a laprscopic exploration and found a small herina. He repaired it, and i was home the same day I did fine. But now i still have that feeling a little lower than the orginal site. I may have to have that checked out too. Hope the best for you. Hi, I've had 4 hernia surgeries. Mine have always shown up on a CT scan so hopefully if that is what it is, it will show up. The hernias have never caused that type of pain to me, but I've also had 2 bowel obstructions that did. It was like the food would get to a certain point and not be able to move any further down. My pain would come and go because my intestines were spasming trying to move the food down. Eventually (usually a few hours) the food would move past this point and the pain would end until the next episode. I didn't have episodes everytime I ate, it started out only 1-2 a month but eventually got so bad that I had to have surgery. It turned out I had adhesions wrapped around the intestines. I'm not saying this is what you have, I just wanted you to know my experience so you could watch for it. good luck, Susanne

I had an internal hernia repaired and adhesions removed at 19 months out. There is more information on my profile. Neither showed on ANY testing that I had and I had it ALL (all the testing that is - some more than once)!!!!!!!! The only way it was discovered was by exploratory surgery. I was in pain for 7+ months. I hope that you find relief very soon! Best, Vanessa

Hey Ya'll, So while waiting for the surgery (mine is Nov 15th) what do you eat? I just had some dried prunes...helps with constipation and some saltines, but now do I have to do liquids? My stomach/intestines are growling big time and hurting...I can feel the gas blowing up like a balloon inside. I had a CT scan done, and a...duh, no one bothers to tell you that barium has sugar in it, so I had to have the other contrast that I added my crystal lite to, and now I never want peach tea again! So, yeah, I am now 14months almost, post op and have to have surgery...yuck! Also, I have to have an exploratory done, and bile duct exploratory ERCP...yuck! He has to cut into my old stomach to have the other doc put a scope into my bile duct. Lovely. Thanks for any info Deb
