Good morning friends - well, its been a week since I re-dedicated myself to my clean eating and wls journey. I have been 100% compliant - vitamins, 64-90 oz water daily, walking daily, and eating per my surgeons food plan. So whats the problem you ask? I HAVENT DROPPED A SINGLE POUND!!!!!!!!!! I got on the scale this morning expecting at least a 2 or 3lb drop, but nothing!!!! WTF??????? What am I doing wrong? I am in shock! Im 5'9" and right now am at 208lbs - so you see I still need to go down at least 30-50lbs more.
Im really discouraged...and thinking about all the carbs I ignored this week (FOR NOTHING IT SEEMS!!!!!)
Thanks for listening - I just had to vent this.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Happy Friday the 13th (yea right!)

Just remember that they say it takes 3500 calories to gain or lose a pound...so you're not going to lose quickly at this point. i did the plateau buster diet and lost 4 pounds right away and then nothing. i've still been following a similar diet and haven't lost much more but i feel so much better. my blood sugar seems more consistant too...not too many low blood sugar episodes. i'm just glad my belly doesn't feel so bloated anymore...those carbs really were doing a number on my belly. i was uncomfortable all the time. just hang in there....i'll come off just more slowly than we got used to from before!

You have all my sympathies. I've been in the same spot for a year.
I visited the nutritionist this summer. She said that I could drop my calories no lower than 1000 daily, that 100 grams of carbs daily was OK, that I was eating too much protein (I was eating around 100g daily). By following that advice, I gained weight.
The surgeon said I'd figured out how to maintain. (haha). He said I needed to turn into an exercise freak to speed up my metabolism. Well, I work full time plus hours each week. I went to PT for several weeks this summer to learn exercises that will work me harder without further aggravating my arthritic joints. Well, I now have frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis in my right shoulder, and I'm working with my orthopedic doctor on those issues, will probably have to have surgery once the frozen shoulder subsides. I'm working with my podiatrist regarding my extremely painful right foot (that I can hardly walk on). My lower back still hurts most of the time. My knees do feel better than they used to, however (oh whoopee).
Years ago, I had success following Dr. Atkins and also the Protein Power Plan. I have gone back to those roots, following an ultra-low carb plan, keeping my carbs to around 30 grams/day. I have taken off all but 5 of what I gained.
My body doesn't seem to want to get below 200 lbs. I'm not sure what else to do, except to keep on following my low carb plan.
Grrrrrring right along with you,
sue O.
