Looking gaunt, looking old

Wow, the mirror doesn't show it but pictures do. I had my hubby take new pictures for me this past weekend for comparison purposes and I look horrible. If you went through a stage where you looked somewhat gaunt and sickly, how long did it last, I really want to hide for some period of time, lol. I'm not losing any more weight and in fact have been between 121-124 since February with a dip below 120 a couple of times, however, when I look at my pictures back from February-March I look so much different now. I know I'm not a spring chicken, lol, but man I want to look my age, right now I look more like my mother's age. Dana

Glad I am not the only one thinking this!! I am almost 16 months out and I am very pleased with my weight(125) and size(6/S) BUT I am not very pleased with how I am looking in the face. Granted, I am 56, but I think I am looking way too old!!. I, like you, hope some of it passes!! Susan

Susan, I posted this to the main board. I remember Pamela Porter posting about it a while back, she did reply to my post on the MB, she said she wasnt' sure how long it lasted, when she saw her pictures from last Christmas she was shocked. Around July of this year she noticed her face had "filled out" and was looking better. She doesn't know how long it really lasted because she didn't have pictures for comparision. I hope this for me is just for a short time and I look better soon. I'm 42, in my pictures I feel like I have 20 years added to my age. Dana

I have the opposite problem. I have always been told I look young. I have had people ask me have I graduated high school yet? I am 26! I dont want to look old just my age for pete sake. I was sure when I lost all the weight Id look more mature and womanly but nope. I still get told I look like a little girl. Ive had people come up to me and comment on what a cute little brother I had and it was my son. My husband laughs b/c he is 27 and can fool anyone to thinking hes 40. People always say dont hate it, youll appreciate it one day! Candy

I don't know how long Dana... I think I look older too.. I always was told I looked younger and still people don't think I'm as old as I am and everyone keeps telling me to GAIN weight now. I added photo's to my profile that were taken last Sat., I am 21 months post-op now and my weights been steady since May now! Dayum, I put it side by side with my pre-op pic, I definitely see a difference I'm doing A-OK, about got my head caught up with my body at this time. btw, ignore my ever messy hair, I was at a wedding outdoors.. and ignore my ~gobble gobble neck~ that will be part of me forever. Just thought I'd share. hugs & kisses, Vickie

I think you look great, however we are our own worse critic. I too have noticed a lot of wrinkles in my face now that I have lost weight. It really didnt bother me until I sent my daughter in Texas a photo of me and her remark was , "You have lost a lot of weight, but now you are as wrinkled as a sharpi puppy." I just had to laugh. I am 46, so I guess the wrinkles have to come sooner or later...I was just hoping for the later.

Hi Dana! You look absolutely marvelous in your picture on this post! I wouldn't worry about a slight change. It probably will be temporary. Are you drinking a lot of water? That should help. I haven't noticed any significant change of looking older in the face. But I'm getting so skinny on the top part of my body, bones sticking out so much, people are asking me if I feel OK. I'm getting to look like a skeleton on the top. I don't know if that is what you mean or is it in the face? I have some excess skin hanging under my chin. I will get that removed next year. Just my thoughts! Take care, Lucy

I've got the skin that my 86 year old grandmother had.....wrinkled. I'm having a full facelift, I think, next mid-year. It's scheduled...just waiting for the $,$$$ Janet

your picture on here is just adorable! At the point that I was at 125 (4'11") my face was looking a lot older. I looked and felt too thin in my face and it was adding years to my appearance. I went to 135 and I look 100% better. I still have those creases from the corner of my nose to the corner of my mouth, but they dont look quite so sunken in. I think at the point that your weight stabilizes at your body's comfortable weight, it seems like it kind of redistributes too.
