Hurray! Join my happy dance!
I had my regular appointment with my oncologist this week, and they told me I'm finally in remission! It's been a long struggle since last December.
I know Ovarian Cancer is nasty about coming back so I'm cautiously optimistic.
I'm on an IV study drug until April that I get every three weeks that is aimed at helping it not come back.
I'm just thankful that I feel pretty good, except for some nasty bone and joint pain which is a side effect of the Neulasta. Funny, how you never listen to the fast-talking spiel at the end of the drug commercials until you start taking that drug. Then you turn the sound UP. Otherwise, I think you just tune it out. LOL
My hair is finally starting to grow back. I'm not really a vain person, but I have to admit that losing all my hair was the absolute pits.
I just want to thank everyone for all your kind thoughts and prayers. I know that's what has made all the difference in my struggles.
I thank God for my weight loss surgery. If I hadn't had lost 140 pounds, I would have never noticed a 10 pound weight gain between Thanksgiving and New Years. If not, the doctor said I would have been dead within three months.
WLS is a miracle for me in more ways than one.
Again, thanks to all for your wonderful support, and keep sending good thoughts my way so I can hopefully stay cancer-free for a long time.

What terrific news!!!!!
Good for you.
Just a reminder I will be twenty six years in remission next February.....it is possible....I too just had an oncology appoint this past week and my oncologist told me every time I come in I buoy his spirits....imagine that!!!!
I'm sure it's been difficult both physically and mentally but it does become only a distant memory....
Wishing you nothing but the best for your future...
Joni...how terrific for you and congratulations! I know how difficult it must have been. i lived through the ovarian cancer with my grandmother and cervical with my mother. my mom has been in remission for over 10 years now. my aunt just went through this with breast cancer and lost all her hair...now that it's growing back she's got an adorable sassy short style. so that's a big plus! you can try all different things with your hair while it's growing out! just trying to think of positive things. i'm so happy for you that things are going better!! take care!

Great news, Joni!
My sister went through chemo for breast cancer this summer. She said the neulasta definitely caused an owie. Like you her hair is finally coming back. Her eyebrows and lashes fell out all at once a month after chemo ended but they are back now. And her head hair is getting there.
Best wishes to you!
