Hello, Anyone taking the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins? Are these better than vitamins from the GNA or the The Vitamin Shop especially the B-12 pills? I am thinking of ordering my vitamins from them, but wondering if I can get the same at GNC and cheaper. Oh I am 4 years post-op RNY.

The best B12s I've found (easiest to dissolve) are the ones from Trader Joes or the Rexall brand that you can buy at WalMart. Very quickly dissolve and much better priced. Kathy

I use the Walmart Senior Multi vitamin, either Citracal Petites or Costco brand calcium citrate, Trader Joe's B12, Zinc and Niacin from wherever is cheapest. My labs have been good so far. I think the most important thing is to take them, not where they came from. CathyA

I don't use them, too expensive and you have to take alot throughout the day. I use the Rexall brand b-12's, do a B-12 injection every two weeks and am taking the One a Day over 50 multi. I am doing the multi one in the morning and one at night.

I received some samples of these at a OH event in June, and went to their website to see what was in them. I was surprised what WASN'T in them, figured I'd have to take an additional multi-vitamin on top. They seemed to contain the things that bariatric patients may be especially deficient in, but not a lot of the broad spectrum things that are in most "regular" vitamins. sue O.

I use GNC (as a card member, I receive a discount at the beginning of every month) to purchase some of my vitamin items ... I use both Costco and Walmart for other stuff ... and often I just do the 'buy 1 get 1 free' at the local supermarket.

Hello Laura - I used to take the Bariatric Advantage brand, early post op, probably the first 9 months - give or take. They were fine, tasted "okay" which is to be expected, not bad, not good...just okay. The real reason I switched over was the financial aspect of it. They get down right expensive over time and quite frankly I was not willing to dump that much money into vitamins that are readily available elsewhere at 50 and 70% less. Are they good vitamins? In my opinion, yes. Are they any better then the ones I take now (courtesy of scripts from my doc, and or bulk purchasing at Sam's Wharehouse) ...no, I don't believe so. I've had extensive lab work done for 4 years now, my levels have always been the higher end of normal - whether it was the Bariatric Vitamins I was taking, or the replaced less expensive stuff. The upside? It gives me more money to spend on FUN stuff, like clothes, shoes, trips, etc. As far as B-12 pills go - I tried the sublingual for a few months and just got tired of having to add that to my DAILY routine. My lazy side surfaces quite easily if it's not something "fun" to do, ya know? Anyway, I switched over to the SHOT. Love it, just have to worry about it every two weeks, verses daily. Good luck to you - any vitamin you can remember to take daily, is a great one!

I only use Bariatric Advantage Vitamins since my surgery. They are especially formulated in a manner that allows absorption after WLS. They are a bit more pricey than other vits, however, I do not want to compromise my health in any manner. The choice is yours...how is your blood work? What does your surgeon recommend? Mary 415/160
