Gaining weight
i had gastric bypass in 2001 and went from 300 to 152...since then ive had 2 babies . i only gained 12 lbs with each pregnancy but since i had my youngest ive been gaining.i guess i really stretched my stomach out during my pregnancy.
does any one know what a revision is?is that getting re-stapled?just wondering if this is an option. Thanks
Denise, a revision is usually done if there is a mechanical failure with a previous WLS or if the wrong surgery was performed thereby causing the patient to still be morbidly obese. Most reputable surgeon's will not perform a revision without a BMI of at least 35 with multiple comorbidites or 40 with no comorbidites or complications from the previous surgery.
I suggest a follow up with your surgeon to determine if the mechanics of your original surgery are still in tact. Do you know if you were transected? A scope will tell your surgeon if your pouch is working properly (stretched pouch, fistula, stretched stoma, stable line disruption). Then a plan of action can be decided on.
Best wishes,
Dana
I've found the further I get out from surgery the harder it gets to lose or even maintain my weight loss. When I see the scales begin to climb I go back to basics: 4 oz protein with low carb veggies until the weight drops back to my lowest weight.
This is a lifetime commitment. If we want to keep the weight off we have to use the tool we've been given. The dense protein will still fill the pouch and satisfy the hunger. Once we decide to eat for nutritional value instead of taste it gets easier. If I could only remember that the scale would stay where I want it.
