Mine is high too - my doctor suggested taking it every other day but I kept forgetting which day I took it so I take it on weekdays and skip weekends. My levels were in the 1500 range after my 2 year check up and after the 3rd and 4th years I'm up to 2800 - 3000. My doc says I could quit taking it altogether but would rather see me continue a low dose than quit taking completely. That way if the numbers drop and I have to go back to daily B-12 I will still be in the habit of taking them. I have been on the sublingual B-12 for over 5 years now. I don't think too high of a B-12 level is a bad thing but it's cheaper to take less of my sublinguals. Maybe you could go 6 weeks between shots instead of 4 to get levels back down a bit. If you're on a monthly B-12 shot.
B12 measurement is in mcg. Whether you are taking enough is determined by your labs. Some of us have to take more than others. I had to change the form of B12 to get my numbers up. I now take methylcobalamin form rather than cyanocobalamin (the more common form) and have numbers at 1700+ finally. I am taking 1,000 - 2,000 mcg daily. The methyl form is more readily absorbed by the body.
