Yep.. I -was- on just a multi, B12 and calcium. Labs just came back with low Iron, so I am on that now too, as well as Zinc..which is a self-prescribed thing. (Which all plays havoc with timing as zinc, iron and calcium compete for absorbtion) Personally, I see little reason to not take at -least- a multi everyday. At very least, you get rid of what you do not use..at best, you use what you do not eat

I take 2 one a day for women multi's, 1 ferrosequel ( iron with a stool softener) 500mg C to increase iron absorption, , 1500 Citracal Plus calcium citrate, 400 dry E, liquid B complex from GNC (already in an absorbable form and does not need intrinsic factor to absorb) I also periodically take lactobacillus acidophilus for good digestion, improved lactose tolerance and keeping away the yeast. 1000 mg caps of flax oil for good fats and it also is a mood stabilizer for depression.

My doctor has me on 2 Flintstones and 1200 mg (3 pills) of calcium citrate per day. I also take a prescription iron, but I was taking that before surgery. Becky

Hello Becky, I think you mighta' misread it again? I take the same stuff from Sam's Club - Members Mark - Calcium Citrate with D - 400 coated caplets per bottle. The 630 mg's you are talking about is when TWO (2) pills/caplets are taken. So to get the 1890 that you mention above, you have to take a total of 6 pills each day. Or to get the 1200+ you mentioned in your earlier post you'd have to take 4 pills a day. Just wanted to give you a heads up to recheck the bottles SERVING size. IF you find that your bottle does NOT show a serving size as 2 caplets, hollar back at me, I'd like to try to find it on their website. -- Lei

Heck, can I possibly mess this up any more!!!! Okay, that means 3 pills a day would be 945. I've got the numbers 1200 per day and 3 pills per day locked in this noggin... not sure which one is supposed to be the correct one. If he wants me on 1200 per day, that would be 4 pills and I've been shorting myself for quite a while... crap. I'll give his office a call today. Thanks For The Heads Up Guys!!! Becky

I am 32 months out from surgery, do blood work (7 vials) every six months at this stage and so far everything is on the high end of normal. He does bone scans every six months which show mine have improved since surgery and are substantially above normal for my age. My surgeon recommends the following suppliments. 1 multi vitamin, twice a day (breakfast & dinner) 2 calcium, twice a day (9:30 AM & 2:30 PM) My surgeon says the above are all MOST patients need, but occasionally he will find a patient who doesn't absorb as well (doesn't eat nutritionally ?) and will have to add a B-Complex or Iron pill to the daily routine. He tells me its a waste of money to add anything to the above routine unless a problem shows up in the blood work. Different people have different surgeries on the board. My understanding is that distal patients need more supplements than RNY patients for instance. The band patients need less supplements than RNY patients, etc. RNY patients will ALWAYS need to take vitamins and calcium. They are absorbed in the part of the stomach we no longer utilize, so we can't absorb them from food. Calcium and vitamins should be taken at least two hours apart since one interferes with the other being absorbed. Best of luck!
