Hi ~ Can any of you tell me if there are some definite post-op times where platteaus are most common? I lost the weight I gained in the hospital and then some afterwards but this week, I have actually gained half a pound?! I am less than three weeks out and still recovering with a lot of pain but was hoping to be encouraged by some weightloss. I read someone's profile --- they referred to a 'three week platteau'n that got me wondering. It's so difficult to believe that this isn't just another diet I will fail at so I am totally tense that I will not lose weight. Obviously, it's way early but still, I am anxious about it. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the rest of us!! Katrina L

Katrina, First of all remember each of us are differnt. Early post op you are NOT on a plateau. A plateau is when you do not loose any weight for about a month or more. You will find early on you will have stalls. Here is my advice and I have given this to many people. Learn how YOUR body reacts to the weight loss. Myself and almost everyone else was hopping on the scale every day to see how much weight we lost. Me personally, I would get depressed when the weight slowed down at first, then I learned my monitoring and keeping records of my weight that I did not loose any weight the two weeks before my period, then BOOM I experienced a 5 lb or more drop. Personally, I did not hit any plateaus my first year. Each month the weight loss slowed down until I hit my goal weight but I lost weight consistently each month until i stopped loosing. I mainted 123 lbs lost for over 2 years, I have recently gained 10 lbs but I am under ALOT of stress and I know I have not been eating well. I have acquired a taste for rice cakes, and I can not give them up. Plus I really slowed down on my exercise routine. Just follow the pouch rules and you will be fine. Don't worry if the weight loss slows down, you are going to loose a substantial amount of weight the first 6-12 months even with plateaus. Good Luck. Lori
