I know in the past when I read what people here list they eat daily I eat alot ALOT more because of all the candy & cookies I add in ( once again not bragging just stating facts) But even though I have been very very good at avoiding sugras since I started back at cursves 2 weeks ago I seem to still eat more than most. I guess what I am wondering about the honesty of peoples food lists. I still cant believe that after 2 years people feel gulity ofr eating 1/2 of anything. It amazes me. Yesterday I had early am...16 oz cup instant coffee, 2 splenda & fat free powder creamor am...1 package raisin , date & walnut oatmeal Lunch...almost 1 full can of Campbells select italian wedding soup ( has noodles, meatballs & greens) somewhere in the day....2 mini candies & 3 bottles of water early pm....10 brussels sprouts, 4 bites of noodles with sauce & 2 oz bonelss skinless grilled chicken dinner...3 oz crab stuffed flounder, 10 brussels sprouts & 2 tablespoons mashed potatoes. Late nite...(this I wish I could ignore) a big slice of very rich bread pudding, about the size of 2 klondike bars stacked. Other than the bread pudding this is typical for me. I never hear of anyone admitting they eat that much and I am maintaing a 166 pound lose 3 years down the road. I just cant believe I am that abnormal Diana RNY 9/17/03

Diana, first off OMG lady, I so love bread pudding and want some so bad. I was going to make it for my neighbors last weekend and decided against it, I'm now fighting the sweet desires and figured what wasn't eaten I'd eat so I made something I can do with or without. I ate some, threw the rest away. Now as for food intake, so many of our intakes vary. I still cannot eat a whole lot at one time but do find myself getting hungry sometimes (or maybe it's head hunger I'm fighting). This is what I've had so far today: Pre-breakfast: 16 oz coffee w/splenda and non-dairy creamer Breakfast: 4 oz. cottage cheese w/splenda Snack: RDT Extreme Smoothie Chocolate Dream Lunch: 4 oz. cottage cheese, handful of Sam's Nature Trail Snack:???? Will probably be AchievOne coffee Dinner:???? Homemade spagetti with meat sauce, maybe a couple bites of pasta, maybe not, green beans Snack: ???? Depends on dinner time and whether I need something before bed, if so I'll TRY to drink a protein shake vs. something bad. I struggle at night now, it was happening between 3-5 p.m. but I've moved the times I eat to avoid that and now it's at night and unfortunately I always want junk stuff instead of healthy foods. Dana

Diana , I so agree with you ... I read where people say a bite here a bite there etc .. I dont think we can live the rest of our lives eating that way and be happy with it .. I am like you, I eat small meal for instance breakfast this am 2 slices double fiber whole wheat bread made into cheese toast coffee , 20 oz water, 32 oz unsweet tea no snack today Lunch today small grilled chicken breast on a bed of lettuce cuke and carrots with lite ranch dressing I usually eat small meals and a snack or 2 a day that is either cheese , nuts or something of that nature. Still wearing 8 or 10 after 3 years in November.. Whenever I want something sweet , I have it , get over it and exercise extra hard that week to balance it out.. Maybe I should eat more like a bird so I could get down to a 6 but at this stage in life, WHY??? I am ok where I am .. Sometimes I want to lost 10 but then I get over that too Shirl

I laughed as I was reading what you ate yesterday, not at you though. Do you think thats alot? I can eat way more than that and feel sometimes that Im not normal. I still cant eat as much as pre op but way more than I thought I ever would as a post op. I am struggling with sweets everyday now. If I could totally give them up I dont feel Id have a problem manintaing at all. I have started today trying to give them up all together. I finished the last of the "junk" today and am vowing to not go back. Its so hard. I am always honest when I list what I eat. Sometimes I dont always follow through with what Ive planned. When Im having a really bad day(like yesterday), Im really embarrassed of myself and how much I can eat I wont post it. I live from one day to the next with my eating, Candy

I think we eat similar amounts. On a a daily basis I eat 1500-1700 calories, 110 grams protein, 150 grams carbs, and 50 grams fat aproxamately, sometime a little more or less. average day is 6 oz meat, 3 servings of dairy (1 cup milk or yogurt, or 1 oz cheese) at least 2 small fruits including 1 banana. 2-4 veggies, altho I dont limit them, and 2-4 servings whole wheat bread, or high fiber cereal. handfull of nuts or TB peanut butter 4-5 times a week. sometimes if I am having chocolate cravings a one way protein bar. (ok almost everyday - as a substitute for candy) also daily I have something like sf pudding, sf icecream, sf jello w/ cool whip. I also eat an occasional cookie - full fat - full sugar not a dietetic one. milk is about the only caloric beverage I drink. I don't drink coffee, just don't like it. rarely have carbonation, it makes me belch like a teenage boy, I also dont drink fruit juices. i also do not drink protein shakes except in times of illness ( recent bowel obstruction and on a liquid / soft diet) or recovery from surgery with a bad appetitie. Imostly avoid refined sugary products, except for my cookies. I will make a pie or baked fruit with splenda occasionally. Chips and that sort of thing are very rare. I dont keep themin the house but will have a few at a party. fried foods are much less than once a month. I stopped reading what did you eat posts as I found them to be undermining my healthy habits and confidence, by comparing with others. I have also decided that most of them are either lying or have serious eating disorders. just my opinion for what little it is worth.

I have been told in the past I need to temper my honesty, but am a work in progress on that area.
