can you anticipate future clothing sizes according to weight history?
I can remember exactly what size I was at each weight range I've hit over the years. Is it safe to anticipate that when I reach "X" pounds on the scale that my size will be what is was the last time I hit that weight?
I've been tempted by the incredible sales (80% off rack at Macy's today!). I would feel much better about wearing a pair of shorts for only a brief time period if I only spent $6 on them (down from $34!), but I'm not sure how to anticipate my future sizes!!!
Hi Jewel,
I thought I would be alright "anticipating" after all I've been my personal goal for 4 months and maintaining with a +/- 2 lb window, with that in mind I started buying more stuff, since I figured I would still be in it next spring/summer...Learned can't trust that, 1/2 the stuff I bought like 2-3 months ago is too big now, not huge; but still, considering the scale numbers are pretty consistant, I thought these clothes would stay that way too, so I guess,my body configuration has changed in the last 2-3 months...Anyway, my suggestions is not to "anticipate" too much, things are still going to be changing for a while...

Good luck with that one! I tried to do the same thing last year. I worked out about half the time. I have some cute summer things that I wasn't able to get into this year, by next year they will be too big. I am in Buffalo, NY and am wearing a sweater today(from the GAP, size large and it's baggie, I never thought I would see the day!) so I think it is safe to say my summer clothes are done for the season !
I also got this great halter dress that I could never wear becuase I could get into it in April, too cold here, oh well! It's not a bad problem to have!
I am a size 14 now and I think the last time I was a size 14, I was in 8th or 9th grade and I probably weighed close to what I do now.
Good luck and happy shopping!

I found that I could "guestimate" a little bit. but, the best idea, at least for my money, is to find a really good thrift store near your home. I have a great one very close by where I "rent" my clothes. I buy wonderful clothes for next to nothing, wear them while then fit, then donate them back and rent some new ones. That way I'm not spending big bucks on clothes I will only wear for a month or so. The only clothing I buy at an actual store, is underwear and stockings - everything else, including shoes, handbags and belts comes from my thrift store!
I think I have pretty well reached my "stopping place" now though - I am a perfect size 6 and have been for about 3 - 4 months - pretty damn good for a woman who was a size 28+ on May 23, 2005! My body is still rearranging itself somewhat, so though I'm not losing weight, my measurements are diminshing a bit as muscles tighten up, etc.
Good luck - have fun shopping - Mom Bear
Sizes are so differnt today and by manufacturer. As I was loosing weight there were times when I skipped an entire size. I never wore a 12 or an 8. I went right from a size 10 to a size 6.
My advice is to shop at the Salvation Army that is what I did, it did not affect my wallet to much and I found some great name brand things.
