I'm liking the fact that you'll be educating us as you go along!!!

Why do you want your body to burn fat at higher heart rates? Becky

My body burns fat at a heart rate of about 70. What you want is to expand the heart rate at which you burn fat to be a bigger range. So that as you move about your day and are active... you continue to burn fat rather than stored carbs.

at $30 an hour i would jump on it, my gym charges $75, which is why I am in school for personal training. I can't afford to pay someone else that much and the price of 6 sessions gets me 2 semesters of classes, and knowledge for hopefully a lifetime. even if I never actually work as a trainer it is worth it.

Yikes! $75.00/hr! I live in a college town and my gym is just about within a stone's throw of the university. Many of the "trainers" appear to be jocks from the university. They are loud, obnoxious, arrogant, annoying. The turnover is unreal. They may be sports medicine majors, I don't know. I think I've just got a bad taste in my mouth regarding them and I might be completely wrong and off base. What I need to do is ask at the front desk about their qualifications, etc. because I really do need a plan. Becky

Ok, Willow, I just read the definition of catobolise and it's still greek to me. I'm assuming that means you are building muscle?

Canabalize means the body will eat it's own muscle to provide fuel for inself. Not good. Kathy

Maybe Catabolize and Canabalize are the same thing? I looked up the def and this is what the dictionary said: ca·tab·o·lism Pronunciation (k-tb-lzm) n. The metabolic breakdown of complex molecules into simpler ones, often resulting in a release of energy. I suppose that could mean that it is breaking muscle down into fuel. Hmmm, I always knew what canabalize meant but I never heard of catabolism before. So I guess instead of eating someone else's human flesh (canabalism), we are basically eating our own (catabolism). Ok, learned a new word today! Linda

I guess I've heard it as canabalize rather than catabolize. Cool, and the word for the day is "catabolism". Certainly beats canablize. Ewwww.... Kathy
