Hello, I am in the process of getting approved for Lap Band surgery. I would like to know how much weight you lost in one years time with the Lap Band and how much did you have to work out to achieve that goal. Thanks for your time Bandit

I am 14 months out and have lost 85 pounds. The average loss is about 8 pounds per month, but it slows down the closer you get to your goal -- so take full advantage of the first 6-8 months, because the weight will come off fairly easily. I began to seriously increase my exercise at about the 8 month period, once I had lost enough weight to be able to exercise more easily. But if you can, I would recommend doing as much as soon as you comfortably can. Exercising will slow down your weight loss to some degree, as it will help you retain or gain muscle, but you will see a big difference in inches. Plus, it increases your metabolism, so for long term weight loss it is important. The exercise is really important for looking as good as you can as you lose the weight, too. To a certain degree, how fast you lose weight depends on how strictly you follow a diet. I am pretty good (most of the time) but I don't maintain a real strict diet, because I believe this is a lifestyle change (not a diet), and I can't keep up a diet for the long term. So I allow myself cake on occasion, and ice cream, etc. So, congratulations! I love my band, and I think you will find you made a good choice.
