Happy Sunday, Grads!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Yesterday was a good day. Went and participated in the Walk From Obesity at our local hospital. Our "post-op" surgeon was sponsoring it. He didn't do our WLS surgeries but takes post-op care of us (he did however do my galbladd surgery and my parathyroid/thyroid surgery). Heard that our hospital was recently named a Center of Excellence by the ASBS. They do have a good program, great doctors and staff. The walk was good. We cut it short since Rich's shin is giving him grief. The personal trainer we saw for our metabolic testing warmed the walkers up and we chatted with him. He is going to send Rich exercises to do to help the shin and knee. Great guy.
Then we went to breakfast for omelettes (we split a western omelette and a bacon, mushroom, carmelized onion and cheddar omelette). We don't do home fries or bread. Next off to Costco. Needed to stock up on paper supplies and some miscellaneous food stuffs. Home to rest a while and do chores. Next off to Wegmans for some lunch and the rest of the grocery shopping. Home again. His afternoon plans had been cancelled - bachelor poker party (the bride and groom-to-be suffered a miscarriage sadly).
Eventually we headed off to the radio station. Rich was on air from 8 pm to midnight. I decided to go with him and hang out. Got to see the studios and see what he does while on air. I had seen his day-job studios - he is on air on 5 radio stations and 1 TV station doing traffic during the week but hadn't seen the DJing studios for the classic rock station. It was neat.
This morning we lazed. Rich shaved off his goatee. Yikes! I really love the facial hair. This is only the second time I've seen him clean shaven. He wants to try a beard and figured he'd start with a "clean palate". Hopefully it'll grow fast. LOL!
I just got back from the market for a few other things. Happily found Propel at WalMart prices at the regular market in the flavor I like. And was shoulder deep into the freezer case seeking out Blue Bunny Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream pops. They had the turtle ones in the peanut butter ones spot. I moved everything and lo and behold, I found the one box in there. Man it was cold in there!!!
Ran into my neighbor's mother and father who are visiting from Florida. Love to see reactions of folks I haven't seen in months. Probably haven't lost alot scalewise but I look different. Felt good.
I'm off to put my hazelnut encrusted tilapia in the oven. That'll be lunch and probably some leftover for Rich tomorrow. Got laundry in the washer. Got a bunch to do. Got some medical receipts to gather for filing. Got my vitamin baggies to fill. Tra la, tra la, a fun day ahead.
Take care, Kathy
John & I are such old farts and SO set in our ways... We awake at about 5:00 am every morning, even the weekends! SO we lay there for about 30 minutes this morning trying to get the other one to get up and make the coffee. I lose most of the time, SO I was up about 6:00 this morning making coffee and making him about 1/2 a loaf of Cuban bread toast.
Before WLS that is how we used to start every Saturday & Sunday, with a big pot of coffee and an entire loaf of Cuban or French bread, with a ton of margarine slathered all over it, and baked till just right.... sigh.... SO I made my egg/pita usual for myself, hurray..... We came downstairs, paid bills, tried to talk to each other about our retirement investments. Gave up on that....
John loaded up our trash to take to the dump and then went to play golf with our son-in-law. I got ready and took 2 of my grandkidlets out, sister and brother duo.
It is my granddaughter's 9th birthday SO I let her pick a place for us to have lunch. She choose a Japanese steak house.... I'm not usually funny about eating out, BUT when you have 2 kids at Japanese steak house prices... Oye... That little fart of a 7 year old grandson was eating 2 freaking toaster pop up pieces of crap when I picked them up because he is super picky and the girl is like me... if it can't outrun her, it's fair game!
We get to the restaurant and guess what? They have chicken nuggets and fries. The boy is happy, I'm happy, the granddaugher is thrilled which is what matters. I ordered the shrimp dinner.... you can't order off the lunch menu on Sundays.... SO needless to say, I have a big take home tray. The bottom line is that Alex had a nice time. She wanted a pair of tennis shoes for her birthday so after our meal we took off to the shoe store and got both of the little crumb munchers some shoes. Jacob's shoes were cool.... they are the Sketcher (sp?) light up shoes. We tried to get the light up ones for Alex, but the only light up ones they had were the shoes you actually have to tie and she was adament that she wanted those Velcro ones. Part of me wondered if I did the right thing by buying Jacob shoes when it was supposed to be all about Alex, but their Mom really has a hard time of it and I know she truly appreciates all the help she can get.
I'm back at home now. John wanted parsley/butter potatoes for dinner so I gots them taters pealed. I pulled out 2 chicken breasts, but haven't really figured out what I'm going to do with them yet. All the laundry is done, the house is good and clean... SO I guess I just get to chill the afternoon away!

Eazy Like Sunday Morning should be my theme for this day. I got up and went to Sunday School and skipped Church to go see my Hubby's Aunt from Jacksonville that was in town. I visited with them till about 1:30 and then off to Wally World to get some grapes and some tea and then back home. I have ate sunflower seeds and watched "8 below" and now I am ready for Church tonight. I cleaned and washed all the dirty clothes yesterday, so today was just enjoy a clean house and chill.
I have Chicken breast with creame of mushroom soup in the Crock pot and steamed carrots. I will have to make some rice or mashed taters for the hubby when I return from Church tonight....Then I will prepare for the week ahead. I think I will take off Thursday and Friday this week...Just to have some down time. I have 66 hours I have to burn, so I think I will use some of it this week. I talked with my daughter in Dallas Texas for about an hour and we laughed and acted silly and she ask me to buy her a by-pass belly.....It was a good and relaxing day for me.....
