Low ferritin
Your doctor should be addressing these issues. I just got my labs back this week and my 6 year ones are in the toilet. My doc is very concerned. My ferritin is 8.8 and Iron is 34.
He is also concerned that me being Hypoglycemic my glucose is high....
Do you keep copies of all your labs so you can monitor them? your the only one that will fight for you.....

I would not worry, persay, but I would DEFINATELY NOT LET IT GO BY THE "WEIGH-SIDE" (*hehehee*) either!!! It is alarming to hear as it is alarming for you to have gotten the results (as you noted, and thankfully let us know) only because it is OUT OF THE ordinary. GET ON YOUR DOCTOR for answers!!!
Blessings!!
Love your guts! xoxox

Leslie, I would be worried if you didn't get treatment your dr prescribes. Low ferritin has always been a problem for me but not like the last 6 mons. I had "0" nothing that was readable to be measured and I have been seeing same hematologist/onoclogist for 5 yrs so he knows mine is not due to my RNY surgery at all.
In May I received iron infusions and again the last 3 weeks I am getting it again. My only concern is I am having surgery this Friday, my hematologist and surgeon feel I will be okay so I am not worried.
Just so you are not worried about how the treatment is I wanted to tell you how they do it. It's just an IV drip of 2 bags, one saline and one iron that takes about 2 hrs. I had problemsin May since the type iron my hematologist decided to use contained a preservative I was allergic to...broke out in hives so we only did 1 bag and my numbers jumped up 2 days later. This time its been 3 weeks of treatment and nothing has changed, my ferritin is still not registering enough to be read, I have another 3 to 6 more weeks of treatment andif all falls we move on to a bone marrow test again. Don't be worried be proactive and please take your numbers serious.
You can email me if you have any other questions.
