I will be 2 years out next month and so far I have only been taking Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins, Iron and B12...but I want to start taking capsules. I am tired of chewing gritty vitamins everyday. And I guess I have been too much of a baby until now to try the capsules even though I know I can tolerate them. I am thinking about trying vista vitamins....anyone take these???? Well, my question is do I still need to take extra Iron and B12 with these??? Or is it all inclusive??? Ugh...I am so clueless when it comes to vitamins. But I need your help. I heard it was good to change up your vitamin routine once in a while. I am just done chewing vitamins. I waited so long to switch to capsules because I had concerns of absorbtion. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Laura PS...I do take chewable calcium too...lol. Any suggestions on that would be great too. Thanks.

You will not absorb B12 taken orally. You'll need B12 sublingually or via a shot. I do not know the makeup of the Vista vitamins but many of us post-ops have to take some fairly big doses of iron and I doubt the amount in a multi-vitamin would be adequate. Depends on your labs now and how much you are taking now, of course. I still do chewable multi-vitamin. I use different brands. I do a few pills. I do Vitalady's Tender iron which I chew with Vitamin C. They aren't labelled as chewable but can be taken that way and aren't "ucky". LOL. I take B100s, Vit E, Vit D in capsule forms. They go down fine but I take them with warm/hot liquids to be sure. For calcium, I use UpCal D which is a powder. I put a scoop (500 mg) in protein shakes daily or even a bottle of Propel. No taste. Easy to take. Kathy

Thanks for the info Kathy. You would think that I would have all this vitamin stuff down by now, but alas, I feel like I am still learning. Take Care, Laura

Hey thanks Tami! So, you take 4 capsules a day? What time of day do you take them? Thanks, Laura

Vista is 4 capsules twice a day. I tried them but got tired of chugging down 8 pills. I do the chewable Optisource from Walgreens formulated for WLS patients. I do take an extra B12 (500mcg) a day. Seems to give me that "extra" boost. My labs are good on this. I also take 2000mg of liquid calcium with Vit D and magnesium, Blue Bonnet brand.

I took Vistas for a while, but decided there were too many capsules to take and they were too expensive. I still take extra calcium, B12 and iron every day and get all my capsules from VitaLady.com. LOVE BariatricEating.com, but prefer VitaLady for my vitamins. Funny how we each just have to find our own way, huh?
