Those Stinkin Carbs!
Hi Everyone,
Well Steph told me to come here and vent about carbs...she said you guys would understand.
I am just 2 years out and have really been down, with putting my Aunt in a nursing home and while I was gone I lost my surgery angel, my dog Spike. He was only 11 and just laid down and died.
I noticed I was eating a bite of this and that and bread and chips and I went from 115 to 121. Now 120 was line drawn in the sand....and I am working on getting back down a few pounds.
What amazes me is how fast they creep up on us. Geez, ok, I know better....
I have a sign on my fridge reminding me I Hate Carbs and I am going back to the gym...
Those sneaky, stinkin, nasty, ugly, anti skinny jeans carbs have got to go LOL

Hey Deb,
Do you notice you don't feel as good either? I really do not feel as well and energic as when I was not eating lots of carbs. The protein, veggies and fruit really does give us that extra kick....
Back to the basics, water, protein, water, protein.
If I say it enough maybe it will sink in

What is so funny is I didn't want to eat bread, pasta and such and everyone said you are getting to skinny eat carbs. Well, I forgot the difference between carbs and complex carbs.
Getting back to the gym really helped.... After working out that hard the last thing you want to do is come home and undo the work.....

I'm learning that it only takes one time on simple carbs to set me off. I think I knew this before surgery......lots of diets on low carb made me feel better and lose weight, but I couldn't stick with it long, but like many, was in denial. The difference I'm trying to make for life is the complex carbs, the lower surgar and higher fiber kind. Sounds simple, but it's not!!

Yesterday I fasted for a spiritual reason and my fast was no snacking and carbs within reason (like the Breakstone cottage cheese with fruit. That is a staple for me.). I am telling you one day of no carbs and no snacking was fantastic for this body. I am down 3.5 lbs in one day! So I am going to continue the fast today (not for spiritual reasons today, just me!) and get rid of the other 3 lbs over my goal. If we can just get thru one day it works miracles!
This is certainly an ongoing process isn't it? It is a tool that we just have to learn to use. I'm almost 3 years out and have had the worst three months since surgery. I gained 7 lbs at my highest. Can't do it, won't do it. I like my size 8's!
So try struggling thru one day all of you who are struggling and let's get this show back on stage!
