Back Pain - 1 year out

I have been dealing with upper (between the shoulders and neck) and lower (tailbone) back pain since March 1 of this year. I have never had problems before. To date, I have lost 90.5 pounds (started at 246) and I can't figure out why I'm hurting so bad AFTER losing all the weight. You'd think it would be the opposite. I've been going to the chiropractor religiously since April (I've been going 3 times a week since July) and I'm still not feeling any better. Has anyone else gone through this? What is the solution? I do not have much loose skin, so I don't need any cosmetic surgery.

Farrah, I too have back pain, but it has nothing to do with the weight loss. My back got real bad after I lost the weight, but I found out I have degenerative disc disease. (Not that you do ofcourse) Meaning, one may not have to do with another. Go to an Orthopedic doctor or a spine specialist. I worked for a chiropractor years ago...manipulation may not be what you need. Kath

Farrah, According to my orthopedic (back) surgeon, he thinks it comes from weak "core" abdominal muscles. For me the physical therapy helped a little, but having the muscle repair during my lower body lift has made the most difference. As for the tailbone pain - it does get better after a while, but I still have it sometimes at 18 months out. Vickie J.

Does your tailbone hurt when you sit? If so, it's because you don't have as much padding as you did. A lot of us have had that. The thing that has helped the most besides a donut pillow, is exercise to build up the butt muscles.
