Hey Ya'll, I've gained 9 pounds in the last month and today is the day I decided to get my eating back under control and restart my exercise. I know I will lose it quickly if I do what I am supposed to do. But it's so hard. I love food. I want to snack all the time. I hardly eat meals anymore - I just snack on carbs all day long. I've got to quit that. If I can just make it through today and tomorrow I will be better for it. I'm trying so hard not to think about it. How's everyone else doing? Lily

Lily, I battle my demons each and everyday of this journey...you are not alone. I find that weighing myself each morning helps get me back on track quickly. Although I exercise each day...I at times answer the call of the carb demon that beckons my name continuously. I am constantly in a dialogue with myself on whether I need to be eating something...am I getting in enough water. Keep fighting the fight!!! You will eventually will the battle!!! Mary M. 415/159

Lily - I know its so hard - get yourself some trail mix or something that you can snack on that isn't carbs. My biggest bad habit is "noshing" - I always like to be chomping on something, so I try to keep nuts or cheesesticks on hand. Just give yourself the few days it takes to overcome the carb addiction, then it'll get easier. And you know, I bet in 3 days you'll probably be down at least half of what you gained in a month. The carbs make such a big difference. You're worth it - you can do it!!

I'm struggling this month too. Up 7 lbs. I am serious starting yesterday with trying to eat some meals. I am not a good meal eater. I was snacking too much. Love those little Welch's fruit snacks! Threw them all away. Today I've done great. Walked 6 miles (I do that every day), had an oatmeal breakfast, just had a sort of stuffed pepper (no rice and no pepper). I think that is going to be it for today. Perhaps a protein shake later tonight. I'm going back to my goal weight. Let's do it!

It IS so hard! Ahhh, I had a terrible day yesterday~Just pretty much ate everything and anything I wanted too! Why do we do this to ourselves??? You're right though~you'll get those pounds back off in no time by getting back to the basics. You can also join us on the daily post b/c alot of us are tying to cut back on the carbs right now. Maybe its the change in weather????? Tracy B 328/150 5'9"

I hear you, big time. I had gained back to 215 lbs (from 202). I went to my surgeon and my dietitian searching for help, as I'd not radically changed how I was eating. The dietitian said it was OK for me to go to 1000 calories daily and 100 g carbs was OK. Well, I'd only been eating 70 grams daily already. After following her plan for a few months, I was up to my highest weight since surgery, and very upset. I went back to my pre-WLS roots, back to what sorta worked for me years ago when I was able to lose weight. I went on to good old Dr. Atkins. I've been strictly following his induction stage, 20 grams carbs per day max. My body seems to like eating that way and I'm not retaining water anymore and have lost 5 of the 12 lbs I gained. It was difficult at first but once I got all the bad carbs out of my body, it has been easy. I have the luxury of not having anybody around the house but me, so I don't have to have food around that everybody else can eat. In the past I found that to continue losing, I needed to stay at 30-40 grams carbs per day. We'll see if that continues to hold true as I gradually add in more veggies starting next week. good luck gtting back on track, Sue O.
