cooking and cooking and cooking balhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I just cook what I like and if they don't like it, well, there's always frozen burritos...
Seriously, I get in the cooking mood once in a while, lately, it's been quite a bit. My family just eats differently now and they deal with it or go hungry. For instance, yesterday, I made a homemade chicken pot-pie. I put in it what I wanted, didn't tell them that everything I used was low/no fat or low/no sodium and they ate it and couldn't tell the difference. Gone are the days of baked spaghetti, lasagna, casseroles, etc. for us, unless they want to make it themselves... Yeah, right!

I am 4 years out. My husband also had WLS. He has managed to gain back about 50 lbs also. No way am I going to go through with loosing 160lbs to gain it back. I do cook....but not near as often as I used to. I try to cook things that I can have left over and put 1/2 in the freezer for another meal later. I get 2 meals and only have to cook once. You would be suprised at the things you can actually freeze. Soups, roasts, pinto or chili beans, speghetti. Also the new prepared meals at the grocery store are just the right amounts for 2 people for dinner. Wal-mart has roast and turkey. I am not sure what the brand is..but you just pop them in the microwave for a few minutes and it is a meal. Also we eat a lot of frozen dinners like lean cusine with some veggies or salad on the side. For snacks, it is yougart, cottage chese or chesse squares. A very small amount of sugar free ice cream for a treat or sugar free pudding. Happy eating.
amy that scares me the gasining of 50 pounds back..how is your husband doing now?
i think its the italian in me that feels if im not cooking for my family im not a good wife or good mother lol
i swear guilt is one of things that italain woman are prone to even if they didnt do anything wrong..imagine if we did..holy crap..
JoAnn, I am with you on the cooking! But please try to set a good example for your daughter, and also don't be an enabler. Don't buy the junk food that she craves -- stock your house with healthy food, and tell her why. She may hate you now (ha ha!) but she will respect you for it later.
Have you seen that documentary (Supersize Me) about the guy who ate at McDonalds for a month? He became addicted to all the sugars and fat and stuff in the food. Your daughter will probably have to go thru some withdrawal off of the junk food, but she should see you as an example.
Good luck!
Boy, I'm right there with you! I don't mind cooking if my hubby would tell me what he wants! I never want anything so it makes it really hard. He has a heart condition so everything has to be low fat and low sodium. So I really feel I need to cook, but hate it now. I'd be satisfied with cottage cheese!
lyn the thing is im at this point with food i dont enjoy it any more the past 2 weeks i eat because i have to and i know im a good cook but i eat 5 bites and then its over its like yea dont beselfish everyone else enjoys your cooking but im like im not enjoying it

I wish I could get bored with eating. I still love to eat. love food, love tastes , textures, colors in it. wish I could just get blah about it. that would make my maintainence easier.
My 4 year anniversary is 2 weeks from today, and I am doing good. My weight range I allow myself is 135 - 140 and today I am 138. a couple weeks ago I went to 143, and had been on a cookie binge, and for whatever reason, several times when I went to the store I picked up M&Ms at the checkout when I was paying for my stuff, just impulsively grabbed it , paid and shoved them in my purse. . I cut that crap out and the weight dropped with little effort thank you GOD! it was a learning experience on how fast and easy it can go up.
