bourngornio bellas and bellos, you know im 4 years out still cant eat like i used to thank god..i cannot eat any macaroni unless its the small kind for soup.. so every friggin sunday i make meatballs, sausages and gravy for the family..do i eat the macaroni nooo i end up eating a meatball and if im lucky i can fit another one in me.. last night i went to trader joes..i love the spreads they have this way for lunch instead of boring ol lean deli meats i can throw the spreads on wrap bread eat half and load it with feta cheese or fresh mossarella..ideas ideas all the time im thinking because i hate meat..ugh well anyways i stop at my local supermarket the light n livly yogurts on sale stock up and low n behold hotel style turkey breast is on sale for 89 a pound.. im picking one up then i go get stuffing bag of potatoes a couplke of cans of turkey fat free gravy some yams and frozen corn ..i said to myself what am i nuts/ i dont even like turkey just the vegetables..im going to do all this work on a gorgus sunny cool sunday ..i said no my fgamily will survive and eat whatever i give them. i dont know about some of you guys..if im ina cooking mood ill cook but i dont eat half the **** i cook and i gross out on so many things still cook it ..then if i make something i dont like ill eat garbage sio why should i cook things i dont like? i realized this yesterday in the store it was like a light bulb went off in my head.. why cook things i dont like and then be pissy not enjoy it and eat the wrong stuff? there are things that my husband likes to eat that i like..my daughter who still lives at home is so dam fussy i call her jerry seinfiled she eats cereal non stop hates alot of food except for ewww taco bell, cheeseburgers and lean cuisines.. my son dont live at home but when i cook i send leftovers for him and his girlfreind. so my new mantra after 4 years is cook only what i like when im not in a mood to cook.. ok enough venting from me im going to the pool for the last hurrah its sunny 61 degrees and i think im ready for fall but not winter.. in a ralistic world my corner of it id have just 3 seasons and skip winter..ugh have agreat day and enjoy it lifes a ride enjoy it hugs Joann

Joann, I so understand, I almost hate to cook now. Because I can eat so little and am limited on what I want to eat. My boys will hardly eat anything and definitely not what I want, Blane works 7/7 so for 7 days I literally eat salads with cheese, chicken or steak or deli meat especially later. I just find it takes to much time to cook something I'll eat a bite or two of, maybe as leftovers one time then throw it away. I still struggle "wasting food". I'm going to make chicken salad today and eat it for a couple of days on a bed of lettuce or maybe some wheat tortillas (first time I'll try these, hope I like them). I make bad choices too, but I do try to be diligent on my choices, sometimes I just go back to my old way of thinking *sigh*. Hugs, Dana

"why is it that junk food goes down so easy but protien dont?" I don't know damnit but it does, those dang chips and cheese dip just called my name and I didn't fight it grrrr. Some days I can do so well, if I'm bored forget it I'm looking for something and it usually isn't something good. Oh well, what can I do now but try to make a better choice next time. Hugs, Dana

I think cooking things that YOU CAN eat rather than stuff you cannot is best. If the rest of the family want something you cannot handle, show them the door to the kitchen and tell 'em to go at it. At our home, it is only Rich and I so that keeps things simple. We are both post-ops so that makes it even simplier. But I cannot tolerate much of the carbs and he can but he can have that outside the house. We cook what we both can enjoy. If he wants to add bread or pasta - go for it. Just not on my watch. LOL! Actually he does most of the cooking anyway. Enjoy your day! Kathy

You Go JoAnn..when I came home from the hospital I lost the desire to cook like I use to! Man, was my family upset, but they got over it! I don't cook much esp. since my husband had gastric 7 months ago. My son still lives at home and eats what ever I have in the freezer, not always healthy stuff in my book but he likes it. I also tell him to go out to get what he wants, and that works too. So take a break and enjoy Sunday afternoons and change is good, and everyone will adjust. Take care...deb k

I feel like I cook all of the time too and most of it's not for me! Dh is working 80hr wks right now, so I cook around 5pm for the boys, a little later something for myself and then again whenever dh gets home~its ridiculous! I rarely if ever eat what the rest of the family is eating b/c most of the time it doesn't fit in with my eating routine or its something I don't care for anymore~I haven't liked pasta and bread since surgery and with 2 young sons in the house there's lots of mac & cheese, grilled cheese, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, etc consumed here. I'm looking forward to fall too so I can put on some crockpot foods~chili, chicken breast, etc. Although, I feel like you~we should just skip winter!!!!!!!!!!!! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"
