After three years of this process, I finally have my Insurance approval and my surgery date is set for Oct. 3, 2006 at noon, I am feeling so many emotions right now that I don't know what to do with myself, I have so much to do and get set up, I have two boys and am a single mom, I have to travel 6 hours away for surgery and I know that I have to have everything into place. I am just so excited, nervous and happy. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts I would be very happy to hear from you. I will probably be posting alot on here now, I have so many questions and concerns. I have read so many of these messages and all are so helpful and inspiring. Louise

Louise: Congratulations on your surgery date!! are you having open or laprascopic surgery?? It is normal to experience a huge range of emotions at this time!!! Do you have some one to help with your kids after surgery?? I had an open RNY and felt pretty decent by the 2nd or third week post op, but would not have wanted to be on my own with young kids those first couple of weeks! After surgery get up and move frequently. Sip your fluids constantly, get in your supplements!! If your Dr gives you the go ahead, walk alittle each day, building up your endurance slowly. You will heal quicker and feel better sooner if you move around. Follow all the directions given to you, and ask about anything you don't understand. You are about to embark on the most exciting journey!! Good luck!!! DeeAnn R

Congratulations on your very long fight! That's wonderful! You might want to post your questions on the main board or the board for your particular type of surgery. This board is more slanted to folks that are 1 year post-op to have a place to discuss long-term issues rather than address pre-op question. I wish you the best as you take this big step in your life. Hang on for the ride of your life! Best wishes, Kathy

Thanks for your reply's, I am hoping to have the lap RNY. Thank goodness my boys are 15 and 16 so they can take care of themselves and help me out also. Louise

Pray and have faith. I had lap surgery and I have 4 little ones and I was able to lift them right away. I am sure there are many of us here who can keep you in our prayers. Good luck and God Bless you are making a decision you will not regret. Think ahead about how much more you will be able to do with yours boys. Focus on the good and keep the faith!

Hooray on your surgery date! Suggestions: Have the protein drinks and vitamins stocked at home - take lip balm and extra changes of clothing to the hospital (the first things they gave me to eat (drink) went right through me.. Good luck - you'll be thrilled with the results.
