Hi Guys, I seek guidance from my friends who are 6 months ahead of me in this journey. When will my hair start growing in again? I knew it would thin out but I never expected this much loss. Thanks! Toni

Everyone is a bit different. I had surgery in May of 2005. Started losing hair in August. It stopped falling out in late September early October. Started growing back (saw sprouts) pretty much after that. Kathy

I started shedding pretty badly about 3 months after my surgery and continued to shed for 3-4 months. I started taking zinc and biotin as soon as I started shedding. Those supplements are supposed to be good for the health of your hair and nails. They won't stop you from shedding, but they might help your new growth be healthier. I'm about 10 1/2 months out now and the excess shedding stopped several months ago. I now have a lot of new hair growth and it's filling back in nicely. Good luck surviving the shedding phase - it will stop eventually. Until then, be gentle on your hair! Kellie

Hi Toni, Have you tried Biotin(Walmart)? I started taking it as soon as I found out that I was approved for my wls and still, 3 yrs postop, I still take it daily. My hair dresser could definately tell a difference and started recommending it to her non-wls clients. As a MO person we have to have some thing that we feel good about and mine was always my hair. I was so worried about losing it but I have been so blessed not to lose too much (even though it did become a little thin on top for a while). Don't give up, your body will catch up to the new nutrition balance soon!! Best wishes. May God bless. Georgina
