Pain in upper part of stomach
Hi D, I'm not sure if you're male or female, but I have the exact same problem. I've been dealing with this off and on for the last 6 months. I've had an MRI, and today I went in for an endoscopy. No ulcer and nothing is showing up yet.
The pain is mostly on my left upper side and it hurts front to back. I'm not sure what it is either. My family doc put me on portonix and zantac about a month ago. I got some relief. I quit taking it last week so when they went in with the scope, they might see what it is. Nope....nothin there.
I had this problem a few years ago.
Lived on Tums, Rolaids, Gaviscon.
Eventually I went to my MD. Had an MRI, eventually a scope down my throat to check out my gut. Everything looked fine. My MD prescribed Prilosec (now available OTC) 2x day for this first week, and 1 pill thereafter. Have taken Prilosec daily ever since, no more burning sensation in the upper right and/or left gut!

Hi D.
Please don't ignore this pain. I am 3 yrs postop and had some occasional pain in the upper part of my stomach that would last anywhere from 2 hrs to 2 days. I had all the tests...gallbladder, EGD, hidascan, ct scan...all were normal. However, in July I started hurting so bad and started throwing up for 2 wks. Long story short, I went to my Dr (3 hrs away) repeated all the tests (normal again) and he decided to admit me (because I vomitted right there in his exam room) and did emergency surgery and I had an internal hernia w/ adhesions. He said only about 2% of previous stomach surgery people get this. Not just wls. I have had 3 c-sections, open hysterectomy, and laproscopic rny. Anyway, the only way I can explain it is that there is alot of scar tissue(kinda like a spider web) that our intestines usually flow easily through, but mine became so bad that my intestines became strangled and raw spots formed on them (which could have been even more life threatening). Thank God he found and corrected it and I went home 4 days later. Please don't ignore any pain, even this far out from surgery. If you can look back on the messageboard there have been alot of people w/ this type of problem. Let me know if I can answer any questions and I hope you feel better soon....maybe it is just your gallbladder which would be a simple surgery.
May God bless you.
