Is Lean Cuisine's and other pre-made meals, ie: weigh****chers, ok to eat?

Hi Vickie, You will get alot of different responses to this post. I think everyone has their own take on frozen foods, here's mine. I have only had 2 frozen meals in the last 1 1/2 years. First of all most of them have lot's of carbs, salt, and for me too much sugar. With that being said, the other day I had a South Beach Diet frozen pizza because I wanted pizza really bad, if I had closed my eyes really tight, it might of passed as a good tasting pizza but it had a strange taste to me. I would rather make something than eat frozen but I know for some they need the convience. I know I'm not much help, but frozen just dosen't seem worth it to me. Sharon

Thanks, for the reply Sharon, I am not a big fan of frozen food, but I like to visit my relatives and some trips are overnighters. My family loves to eat, mostly heavy and rich foods. I am the only one with the weight issues. I thought maybe I could take a few frozen meals and my protein drinks and some bagged salad. I have to be prepared when I go on my visits or I will be weak and eat the wrong foods. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You, Vickie

Sharon, whenever I get a "I need pizza" moment, I make it on a low carb tortilla. I spray a pan with the butter flavored spray and "fry" one side of the tortilla, then turn it over and put pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni or sausage, mushrooms, spinach, (whatever) and mozz cheese and "fry" it until the cheese melts - put a foil dome over it and it helps prevent it from burning. WAY yummy and I'm in control of what is on it! Michelle

I eat them on a fairly ossassional basis. Yes, they do have more sodium than I like. I only eat the ones that are low carb though. I love the homestyle chicken. It has no pasta, just chicken in a sauce & green beans.

I eat the smart choices sometimes for lunch and dinner (When the hubby is working and I dont want to cook)...I enjoy them. My Nut. also suggested I eat them for the protien,as the chicken in them is not too dry. I have found the meat is easier to chew and easier on the stomach and it stays down too. I have had no issues with them.

I eat them once in awhile and have since I was OK'd to eat all regular solid foods at 3 mo. post-op. My only complaint is that the side dish is often rice or pasta, which I have no problems with pouch-wise, but I don't like to eat the "white carbs" too often. I've tried a fairly big variety and defnitely don't like some of them, but overall, I think many of them are good--and sure are easy to grab to take to work when I'm in a hurry or don't have anything on hand to pack a decent lunch.

Hi, I did notice that Lean Cuisine has a spa series that has brown rice. I think it may be the only frozen entrees with whole grains that I have seen at the market. I really appreciate all the suggestions and comments. Thank You, vickie

I eat South Beach or Weigh****chers dinners on a fairly regular basis. I have two kids and a husband, and some nights are just crazy getting kids from one place to another. When they eat fast food, I'll wait and eat a TV dinner. Just read the labels when you pick your entrees. Some have alot of protein and some have very little. I typically try to pick the ones that have around 20 protein. The calories also vary greatly as well, and I try to stick to the ones with fewer carbs and calories. They are convenient, and I know the portion size is definitely smaller. Some of them are quite tasty. Joni

I do eat them. I get the weigh****chers smart ones. I look for low carb, high protein. The chicken one I get the most has 20 g protein 5 net carbs and 180 cals. For me there easy for dinner, the right portion size, and so quick to heat up. I eat them probally 2-3 times a week.
