i agree with what someone else said. You will never find me sipping water while everyone else eats. When i dine out, I order anything I want. My appetite has changed very much and i don't even want a lot of fatty or sweeet things so it is usually something that is good for me. I MIGHT take leftovers home. I don't usually like leftovers tho. I have never used a resturant card. Never will. I have gone out with a WLS best friend and we have split an entreee a couple of times. For instance, that big Uncle hershal's breakfast at cracker Barrel, there is plenty for the two of us. We ask for an extra plate and they are happy to oblige. In Florida once on vacation, we split a meal but sure didn't save any money because I just had to have a side order of crab legs. My husband loves buffets. When we go, I go down the line and get a spoon or so of nearly everything. I used to load up on the soup and salad at those places but i stay away from the salad now in favor of everything else that looks good to me.

I dont normally just do the water or tea, but it seems that lately my hubby will want to go out to eat just after I ate! he has a great knack for doing this. Normally I will get something off the appitizer but it there is something really good on the menu I will go ahead and get it... Donna

Hi, Donna! I'm almost 16 months out (on the 3rd) and while I don't eat as often as I did pre-op, when I do, I order whatever I want and, like someone else said, don't worry about possibly taking some home. My husband always jokes though, "Why did I even bother to order anything? I could have just eaten your leftovers!" But he usually orders something I wouldn't or couldn't eat. The other day we went to Red Robin and I ordered a turkey sandwich that had avacado, bacon, and tomatoes on it - it was SUPER yummy. I ate 1/2 the sandwich (it was on a croissant) and like 2 fries. He ate 1/2 of his meal and had the remainder of my sandwich and his for lunch the next day. I'm usually not crazy about restaurant leftovers, but hubby loves them, so they almost always get eaten. my husbands favorite place is Texas Road House. when we go there I just order a water because like someone else said, if you don't have some type of drink in front of you, the wait person will keep asking if you want something. I take a few sips and have it there just in case I get something stuck. when we eat here, I order the basket of ribs, it comes with fries but I can change that to steamed veggies. also I have them put the BBQ sauce on the side... this has about 4 ribs and I can eat most of it, each time i can eat different amounts so I just never know. as for left overs. I take it home because someone will eat it, either me ot my hubby. I have even caught my 17 year old eating my ribs, but the best part is my two mutts get the bones... one time, just after I had a hernia repaired, my pouch seemed to be back to the size it was just after WLS and we went to The Olive Garden... while my family all got what they wanted, I was able to order just ONE meatball.... it had my family in stitches all week... and I was full after this one meatball too... I love red robin, just have to keep the basket of fries on the other end of the table away from me. I love the tortilla soup and do well with a cup of it. or I get a burger or a veggie burger with all the toppings and tell them to hold the bun. and no firies.

I usually order off the appetizer menu. I order what I want and then take it home. My hubby ususally gets the leftovers the next day unless it's something that stays moist like lasagna. I just can't do meat leftovers. Picky pouchie. I think only once have we split a meal. My girlfriend and I have numerous times. She's little itty bitty.

my favorite resutrant is a spanish tapa bar. Tapas are "little plates" much like hordeorves. The food is wonderful and I will order 2 tapas and it will be just enough or maybe even a bit too much, depending on what they are. *sigh* I would love to go out for tapas right now!!! and no, I wouldn't order jus****er and watch others eat unless I was truely full. There is ALWAYS something on a menu that I can eat and no, I don't limit myself to salads only. How boring. Trisha

I am glad you asked this. I always ask for water when everyone orders their drinks and in recent times there is a girlfriend in our car club group who likes to share up an entre with me. It works out great for both of us. I don't worry too much about the times that my hubby and I go out together as I just order what sounds good and seems to be a good choice for my health wise. If I feel like dragging it home I will but most of the time I eat what I want and leave the rest. Karen A
