Kathy that's great. I am excited about the heart rate testing. I also would be interested in how your traing program works for you. PT says he can increase my rates, which would be great since mine are so low. Please let me know when you get retested. Sara

Hey Sara Tell me how the exercise plays in as far as how may calories you can eat per day? I live in Ala now and doubt we have that testing available though. Thanks so much Shirley

I have had this testing done as well here in Ohio on 2 seperate occasions initially when i was morbidly obese and then when i was about 165lbs. My Basal metabolic rate ( the amount of calories it tatkes just to maintain you at a resting state) was 2000 and some at 326 lbs and 1950 at 165 lbs, now you may ask as i did how can this be. The answer is as i got thinner i increased my exercise whi*****reased my muscle whi*****reased my metabolic rate. I have to say that i don't fully buy into this, as if i ate that much i would surely gain. ( i am afraid to try it) As a nurse, i still find it difficult to buy into the starvation mode, i mean let's face it people who are anorexic don't eat and they never stop losing weight. Anyway... i have asked doctors and nuts to explain it, but i just don't get it. Anyhoo, almost any hospital that is a ateaching hospital such as connected with your state university will have this test. They also have tests where they measure your body fat underwater ( hypertonic weight??? ) Bodpod, air displaces fat and lean muscle and then by caliper measurement. I was 30 % body fat, which is normal for a female. Imagine that, i am atually in the normal range of something. Check it out, Melinda 326/148/130

I agree totally with you. You will never totally stop losing weight and I am sorry if that what I implied. But if you go under your basal rate, you body will slow down and it will take even longer. I just want to stay at the best rate for me. And your rates are great. I am very jealous. But wanting to be like most people is what got me to obese in the first place. I am definitly "not" normal. Exercise does affect the higher number and I do exercise, but I wanted to know the worst case number, just in case I don't feel up to it at any given day. Hopefully it doesn't ever happen, but I am now prepared.
