Anyone else hate meat? I used to love it. Now I think it's gross. I'm living on shakes and bars. I'm even beginning to dislike cottage cheese which has been my staple. We had salmon tonight. Two bites. That was it. UGH. I'm only eating because I have to. Anyone else have this problem? Any new protein suggestions? Help!!!

Lyn, Can't relate really, I'm nearly a carnivore. No, it makes sense. If you've had a few 'bad experiences' With meat not sitting well, Your brain has learned to avoid it Just like it would if you touched a hot stove a few ties. What about Eggs? Cheese? I can turn ANYTHING into a super thin, 1 egg omelet! Big non-pan, add a couple of tablespoons of water to an egg, Beat for a ridiculous amount of time, Pour in and swirl around like making a thin 'crepe' of an egg, Then remove from burner. Put Whatever- Black beans, Avocados and Salsa, Sprinkle on a touch of cheese, Put under the broiler for a minute, Pull out and roll up on to plate. Some of my favorite "combos" that have protein (without meat) include- *Mushrooms, Grilled red pepper and Feta, *Tofu chunks in Fat free Blue-Cheese dressing with pecans and Blue cheese crumbles, *Cream-Cheese, Walnuts, Diced Granny Smith Apple with sprinkle of grated Cheddar, *Roasted Garlic, (from night before) Caramelized Onions and Mozzarella, *Grilled Veggies (from night before) Onions, Zucchini, Eggplant, Peppers with Mozzarella, *Black, some Green and Kalamata Olives, Tomatoes, Feta and Onions, *Texas Ranch Beans (night B4) Onions, Tomatoes, crunched up tortilla chips, cheddar, And on and on..... Just about any leftover, can be wrapped into an omelet. *slices of Hot dog Wiener, Chili, Cheddar Cheese, and bit of crisp diced sweet onion and mustard!! (The Chili-Cheese Dog Omelet!) Just thing of food you do like together, And go for it. Skimp on the Spray oil/ Non-stick spray, And bump up the spice content. If eggs are not good for you, Maybe someone else will give it a whirl.... Best Wishes- Dx

Beans and peas have lots of protein. You could make a 3 bean soup (pork n beans, kidney beans, pinto beans) which should go down easily and be filling. Of course if you added some lean hamburger it would have even more protein. Lots of carbs too but some people don't worry about the carbs. I wish my problem were not wanting to eat. Instead I want to eat all the time and have no problem with anything making me sick.

Lyn, I go through spells where a variety of foods just seem disgusting. Right now the only thing I'm wanting to eat without feeling nauseated is cottage cheese, cheese and chicken. Any other food I eat and I get a tinge of nausea. Not sure why but it is what it is. You've got some good suggestions from Dx and Pat, might give that a try for a bit to change things up. Best wishes, Dana

I agree ! Before Surgery I was a real heavy meat eater, however now, It makes my stomach hurt. Ground Chuck and deli sliced turkey is about the only ones I can tolerate. I cook it for the hubby, and then I say, "I hate meat" as soon as we sit down to eat supper. Tonight was roast in the crock pot, I had 1 bite and my tummy said...."NO MEAT FOR ME..." I think I will live off of beans and ground chuck
