You know, I read many posts about people contemplating WW after they have had gastric bypass surgery. Well let me be the first to admit that i have done it! I joined, not because i have gained weight, but because i am struggling to lose the last 18 lbs and i am almost 18 months post op.I have also watched my eating change from that of the initial year after surgery. I have allowed a bit of sugar back in my life and while this isn't the best, it isn't the worst as long as I can do moderation. Doing WW is allowing me to focus on points and i also calculate my protein. It works much better for me than fitday, as you have to write every nutritional fact down in fitday. SO for $65 i have joined WW online for the next 3 months. I don't really need or like going to support groups, so this is perfect in making me more aware of what i am eating. Anyway, just because we had weight loss surgery doesn't mean we don't have to watch what we eat, or that we won't ever struggle with weight again. Short to the long is.... I HAVE JOINED WW TO HELP ME ACHEIVE MY GOAL AND REFOCUS ME ON HEALTHY EATING KEY word...Healthy. Thanks, Melinda

Hi Melinda. Good for you! I have been on weigh****chers prior to RNY and continue to go to meetings. For me, I like the support and accountability on a weekly basis. It helps me a lot. I say do whatever you need to do to get you to goal! Congratulations on your weight loss and decision to try ww on-line Lucy 484.8/383.4/163.4/160 pre-surg/surg day/current/goal

I think WW is the only thing that works in "real life" - unlike fad diets, pills, etc. It never worked for me as a pre-op because I could never stick to it long enough, but I always got a lot of ideas from the meetings, and I joined online once and found it so great to be able to look foods up on their site for nutritional info, etc. As a post-op, I can see it working because its so flexible and we can customize their plans to fit our needs. Good for you!!

I think thats great Melinda! I went to WW many times pre op and found I always lost weight with their plan. I do WW now (on my own, cant afford meetings or online). I am maintaining so I have had to adjust my daily points target but find WW to be very beneficial in keeping my weight in check. I say you do what works for you, Im proud for you. Good Luck!! Candy

Melinda, YOU GO GIRL!!!! WW is a wonderful program. I was a WW member for many years and lost 102 on the plan. The problem pre-op is that I could never keep it off for any length of time. I managed to keep it off for almost four years once, but then became very ill and gained it and 60 more to boot. All that I learned in WW I have used after bypass surgery. WW is a good eating plan for the rest of your life. Once we get to a point where we can eat anything again, WW is the only program that will allow you to have your cake and eat it too, literally. Good luck to you. You have made a wise choice. If you do not lose another pound, I am pretty sure you will not gain another pound either, and that's not so bad. I learned more in my WW class about my head than about dieting, and that's what it's all about. Missy (3+ years out, maintaining at 120 for 1+ years).

Good for you Melinda! I think for us to be aware of regaining weight before we start gaining is so important! And any way we find to do that is a victory! I am 15 months out and have lost 140 pounds. I am about 5 pounds from goal.....and will go to any length to keep it off!! Good luck to you!!
