Exhausted lately

I've been feeling really tired lately. I had labs drawn in June with my iron/ferritin and B-12 being fine. B-12 was actually over 1700, iron was mid-range, ferritin also. I'm going to call my PCP tomorrow to request more labs to see if I'm deficient somewhere. I don't believe he'll be as receptive to run everything since he ran detailed labs in June. What test do you recommend I have done? Is it necessary to run everything again so soon? I'm really discouraged and just want to sleep and cry, I've got to find out what is going on. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Dana

I don't know if this will help but sometimes I'll feel a little run down even though I'm taking everything I should and everything is "normal", I take double the multiple vitamin and that seems to help in a couple of days. Maybe you've caught some kind of virus and maybe just need to rest and let it run its course. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Linda

Linda, I had a virus 2 weeks ago and I'm thinking that's part of the problem, just trying to recoup from that. I was so sick (nausea and diarrea) that I didn't take my vitamins consistantly for 3 days, I literally slept and stayed in the bathroom for 3 days, food intake was basically zero. I'm considering upping my vitamins some to see if it helps. Can't hurt? Thanks for your reply. Dana

Hi dana, so sorry that your feeling so sick and exhausted. It sounds like the virus itself could still be somewhat lingering. Sometimes healing just needs more time, although we just want to get back to normal so badly. Your in my thoughts and prayers. Linda L.

Dana, Doubling up on vitamins can actually hurt you. Some vitamins are water soluable and some are fat soluable. If your body doesn't use all of the water soluable ones, it forces them out of your body. If your body doesn't use all of the fat soluable ones, it stores them in your muscles and cause a TOXIC reaction. Please don't up your vitamins without your doctor's OK. Hope you feel better soon. Dana, I can totally realte to your post right now. I have not felt like myself in about 1 1/2 weeks. Last night it all came to a head a virus and a head cold of some kind. But for the last week I haven't been myself. I have felt run down, and very emotional. I even told my husband I almost didn't trust myself to make decisions (which isn't like me at all) but needless to say today I feel like crap. Although unlike you I have still had an appitite. I don't know if your Dr. will run the same test again, I know they are funny about running things close together, but maybe they will have some kind of answer for you. Sorry I'm not much help, but I will be praying for you. Huggs, Sharon

Sharon, thanks for the reply and the prayers. I'm sorry you are also feeling like crap. Hope it improves for you soon. I've felt tired for a while but since I had the virus 2 weeks ago, it's been so depressing. I literally feel like I have 50 lb weights sitting across my shoulders holding me down. I can manage to do something for 10-15 minutes then I have to sit down and rest. I've been emotional and depressed even for about 2 weeks, I'm seriously considering getting on an anti-depressant. My hubby is getting tired of hearing me complain about it all *sigh*, he's usually very supportive so I know I've been b#*@%# more than usual, lol. Hugs, Dana

((((((((((Dana)))))))))) Any chance at all that you may be pregnant? Don't worry about your PCP...just remember, he's on YOUR payroll. Depression is also a VERY real possibility. I know that when I am depressed, all I ever want to do is sleep. I take Effexor for depression and it really doesn't seem to help all that much (I think that the only thing that will is a change of 'atmosphere'.). (((Feel better VERY soon, Sweetheart! (((Hugs))) ~~Sherry P.S. DH always thinks that I am a _itch (at least, to him). Of course, I usually am..

Oh Sweetheart why did you have to say the "P" word, is it a possibility yes, but I don't think I am, I will freak out if so, 42 is to old to be a mommy again . Say a prayer THAT isn't what's up. I'm not taking anything for depression right now, I did pre-op but got off of everything prescribed post-op. I'm going to call my PCP, probably time to look into something for the emotionally times I'm dealing with. I'll get my labs drawn and go from there, this suxs. Hope you feel better to sweetie. Hugs, Dana PS, Oh well being a B#*(@ isn't always bad, right? If and that's a big if, everything didn't fall on our shoulders and they (at least my DH) would take on some of the responsibility maybe I'd react/act differently. Can you tell he's getting on my nerves right now .

Dana...Take a deep breath...you may need to give your body time to bounce back from being sick. Your labs sound good, so I don't think you need to up anything - it will take your body time to get back to normal. As far as the Mommy thing you might want to check that out too. Stranger things have happened. And would that be your last nerve that your husband is on? LOL! Take care - deb k
