Is this normal?
I am 14 months out and doing teriffic. I lost 130 pounds in the first 9 months and have been maintaining. I can eat really anything I want...and I do between 8-9 miles a day of fast walking/jogging. I drink 150+ounces of water or crystal light per day. My labs are great...and I feel like a million bucks...BUT, I noticed recently that I am having much more trouble eating anything it seems. Most everything just feels like lead sitting in my pouch. This has only been going on for about a week. I'm not eating anything different...hum? NOTHING has changed, but I can't seem to eat anything. Has anyone else experienced this and then had it go away as mysteriously as it came???
Laurie, have you had any illnesses lately? I'm going through the same thing, I really have to be careful what I eat or my pouch hurts. I did have a virual infection last week with nausea and diarrea and since them, I'm just struggling somewhat with food. I feel like a newbie again when it was lots of trial and error.
Make sure you are chewing slowly and taking small bites, I've caught myself not being as careful as early post-op doing the chew, chew, swallow thing instead of going slow and paying attention to what I was doing.
Hope you feel better, if the problem persist be sure to talk to your surgeon.

Oh, my goodness - there must be something in the air! I've not been able to eat much of anything for about 3 weeks now. I've lost nearly 20 pounds in the last 3-4 weeks and I'm really starting to get concerned. I'm lucky if I'm getting 1000 calories in/day, more likely around 500-600. I have seen a GI and am getting an endoscopy done 9/11.
Mine is like just a discomfort and absolutely no appetite. When I do eat I get really bad gas pains (like making me sweat and double over in pain - almost like dumping) and sometimes I get crampy. I've had a few small bouts of diarrhea and vomited once but mostly just a constant discomfort, somewhat crampy feeling.

I'll jump on this list too! I'm at 15 months and for some reason in the last week, I have been having trouble with diarrhea. I get the worst cramps about an hour after eating and it wakes me in the middle of the night...
Hopeully for all of us, this too shall pass. Besides, at least we're not constipated!!
