well, i talked to my pcp about my eating habits. he didn't say anything except "you know you should eat 5-6 small meals a day". i mentioned eating disorders, to which he did not really have any reply. he did tell me he is worried about my weight loss and would like to see me gain 5-10 lbs. also 2 nights ago, i got a tingling sensation in my right hand and it felt like it fell asleep. well, it hasn't gone away. it still feels like it is asleep and tingles when i rub my finger across it. but it is only 1/2 of my hand, the side where my ring finger and pinky finger is. he wants me to call him if it doesn't go away by the end of next week. and lastly, they took my height and weight and i measured 5'3''. LOL who knew i would grow an inch??? is that even possible? oh well, i guess i am 5'3'' now! i go back to my surgeon on september 26th and need to make an appt with nutritionist before then. i will still discuss things with them both. hugs~mary jo

hi darlene! i didn't see the exact results. he was looking at them while i was there and said everything was good. they even took me off of my iron supplement after they got my lab results in june. i should ask for a copy, so i know what the numbers are.

MJ, be sure to email me your labs with the ranges your lab (Quest, Lab Corp, etc) has. It will help allot to help you determine what is happening. If you can also get a copy of your labs before surgery and shortly after surgery you can trend your labs to see what has changed. Dana

I always reccommend people get copies of their labs and track them. That way you can tweak your needs better. Darlene

Hi Mary Jo! That's funny about growing an inch, although I've read alot where people say they have after wls~maybe all of our weight holds us down more and now that the weight is gone we are free to stand taller?!?!?!?! I think that PCP's (in general) don't know alot/enough about wls patients. I guess they really don't have a need unless they happen to have wls patients as clients. I think if you spoke with your surgeon about possible eating disorder/wls connection, he/she would have a way different answer for you than your PCP did. I am concerned about the tingling hand. How were your most recent labs? I know there's some wisdom here at the Grad's board about this b/c I can remember someone posting something similar (I think it was Sherry). I know you've had a hard time with not being hungry~some would say "oh if I could only be so lucky to have that problem" but never being hungry is just as hard on you as always being hungry I think. Just keep trying to get those meals in. Have you tried adding some things a little higher in calories to your diet just so you can at least maintain the weight that you're at?? I hope that all goes well when you see the surgeon. Keep us posted! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"

hey tracy! whats cookin, good lookin? i agree, i love my pcp, but i don't think they know enough about "our kind". so, i definitely will be talking to the NP when i go. (i haven't seen my surgeon since 8 days post-op!) plus i have to get on the horn and make that appt with nutritionist. it is hard not being hungry. forcing yourself to eat is just as hard as trying to force yourself not to. a lot of my problem right now is due to financial difficulties and not being able to properly shop. but my friend cajungirl (love ya dana!) gave me some good ideas and i am trying. it's almost 2pm here now and i haven't had anything yet today. i am thinking of what to have while sitting here, and honestly the thought of eating disgusts me. it just seems like such a chore. ughhhh, maybe i'll make some tuna. as for higher calorie foods, girl i eat anything! i have eaten pringles and doritos, breads. problem is, even eating "junk", sometimes that might be the only thing i eat and i might have a handful. most days i have one "meal", if you can call it that. yesterday i had a pb&j sandwich and i think a slice of ham. i'm at a loss. i know people say you have to make yourself eat, but i'm having a hard time. my doc says labs were good. the first thing he said was the tingling was from my elbow, the ulnar nerve??? not sure, but he was tapping my elbow and said does that do anything? it didn't and i know i haven't banged it or anything. i guess if it does not go away by the end of next week, he said something about nerve conduction studies. i'll keep ya'll posted! hugssssssss

Mary Jo, I agree with Darlene, what are your labs showing, the tingling sounds like B vitamin deficiencies. Are you supplementing? Dana

hey dana!!! xoxoxo i just called my doctor's office and asked if i could pick up a copy of my labs from june. they said no problem, so i have to pick it up within the next hour. i will start a new thread with some numbers and hopefully you guys can give me some feedback! btw, i am not supplementing, other than my multi-vitamin. i was taking trinsicon up until june, but when they sent me the letter saying my labs were normal, they wrote on there that i could stop taking that. ??? hugssssssss
