WOW - my 'skinny' jeans fit!
WOW - this convention might really be doable!?!
Please call to register 866-957-4636 ext 385
October 27-28, 2006- Lexington, Ky
Speakers include Colleen Cook, Alison Botke, Dr. Monica Ganz and many more!
Just got the info off the site and I was really hoping it would be the LAST week of the month, and it is. Which means I'll be home for a couple of weeks (from the cruise) and can recoup (what can I say, I'll be dancing till all hours of the night) ....but 2 weeks should be plenty of time to heal all the aching limping joints.
Let me know if you two end up going, oh and I'm all for ROOMING with you two - if I do head to KY for the convention (and then Florida in November) ..."budget" is the word of the day.
Sooooooooooooooo - where's DANA BARR and DELORES?!? Surely they have GOT to go too, right?

Whoa....I didn't see that Colleen Cook was gonna be there. Hot diggity. She is one of my heros. I read her book THE SUCCESS HABITS OF WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY PATIENTS a long time ago. I love it. Now I gotta go. So count me in. We'll be frugal and penny pinching together.....Just gotta save for gas.
I'm ready.....head em up and move em out....
Hugs
Charlie
Congratulations on being back into those skinny jeans. I've been back to basics for a few weeks myself in an effort to lose some weight I gained on vacation. It's gone now but I still lecture myself daily that it's easier to control it daily than to have to lose the same weight over and over.
You post was more inspiration to keep it off now that it's gone again. I hate to think this will be a lifetime struggle, but like you I want to eat all the time so I have to figure out low calorie/low carb foods to keep myself happy.
We have the key to success and our tool to make the struggle a bit easier. I've missed your face on the board now that you don't post often. Come visit us more often.
Hello Pat ~
Oh, I know all about the daily lectures you speak of. You should hear some of the conversations I have with myself. Ive been known to put myself in time out, argue, talk back, laugh, and praise some of my own 'thoughts and actions' ...figure if I don't talk to the voices in my head and keep 'em company, who will?
Congrats to you on getting the vacation weight off. I used to have a ceiling of 20 pounds that I set as my "emergency trigger someone staple my mouth shut" weight gain max. I've decided to change that to TEN! When I allow 20, I don't panic till I'm half way into it, when I 'start to do something about that" ...I find Im still in the half-serious stages of really trying, so all I do is gain 5 more pounds while trying to lose 10. That puts me too dangerously close to the 20 Im trying to avoid. So from here on out, my pressure button explodes at a max gain of 10 - which hopefully means I start getting serious at the half way point of 5.
Uh - not sure if any of that made sense, lol, I'm too lazy to RETYPE it if it doesnt.
Thanks for the kind reply - Lei

....and I'm still wearing the silly things. Figured they only fit a couple of minutes the first time I had them on so I'm afraid to take them off now.
Good luck getting back into yours. It'll happen, you have too much tenacity and determination for it not.
Just wrote back to Charlie (same thread) about the upcoming October convention in KY. Not sure if I can juggle that with the cruise in the same month and trying to to get to FL to see you (and her too, hopefully) in November. PLEASE keep me in the loop though, it's nothing for me to get my butt in the car and make a roadtrip out of a few days, it's like therapy to me and it gives my mind a chance to actually unwind and slow down. Hours on the road and loud music blaring, love it.

Hey Lei or anyone
I have a question.. How does exercise play into the food we eat .If we eat 1400 calories a day and we do 1 hour of areobic exercise and 30 min weight lifting ,
how many calories do we count ... I am iggggg about this and would like to know how to figure it out ..
Thanks so much
Shirley ( 3 years out in Nov)
Hello Shirley -
I'm NO expert and won't even try to fake it - lol, especially where the "exercise" word is involved. BUT, the CALORIE SITE I mentioned at the bottom of my original post might be able to help you figure out just how much the exercise you're doing ties into the caloric intake you should be getting to "lose, increase or maintain".
When I plugged my info into it, it actually said I should consume 1656, I took 200 off that just based on "Lei-logic" which means little to nothing. I went with the assumption that my metabolism is shot to hell and there is no way, even based on the stats I plugged in, that I'd be able to eat 'exactly' what another 45 year old female at 5/9" with "x" activities. Most likely the AVERAGE person with those stats has NOT taken their system/metabolism to the extremes I did through out 3 decades of SMO.
Anyway - these two sites might give you some insight to your question.
Daily calories needed to make goal:

Hope they help - Lei
Awesome Lei, I've followed your profile since I came to OH. You've been such an inspiration to me.
Congratulations on working your tool and showing the world that IT DOES WORK!!!!!!!!!!! So many wait to see us fail at yet another diet, this is a lifestyle change, yes we might get off track sometimes (we aren't perfect) but with determination and hard work we can regain control and use the tool we were given to remain healthy.
You are a true testament to WLS and a wonderful example for all of us.
