I am sched for surger August 31. I have read so many conflicting stories on board that I am anxious and confused as to whether to have surgery or not. Do not kn ow what I need from you folks but would appreciate your input.
Elaine,
To be very honest with you, If you have not tried EVERYTHING to lose weight without surgery, I would go do that first. I was a yo yo dieter for years, losing 60, 80, 100 pounds on weigh****chers, and then putting it all back on and more. Finally after 2 years of research I decided to go ahead with surgery. I found the recovery very very difficult for the first few months. I was one of the unlucky ones who got sick a LOT from just about everything. It was a trying time for me, and I often wondered what the h*** I had done to myself. Fast forwarding to now, I am a year and a half post-op, and this is the best thing that I have ever done. I have lost 185 pounds, and I am 8 pounds BELOW my goal weight. I am feeling great. It was the best decision for me, and I would do it again. However, you do need to make the best decision for you. Everyone is different and we have varying experiences. It is confusing when you read everyones victory or horror stories. I made a list of pros and cons for myself and what I needed/wanted to get out the surgery. That helped me make up my mind. Whatever you decide, best of luck to you. We will be here to support you.
Keep us posted!
