I had a huge hernia repaird last December, the surgeon had to actually tack the mesh under my ribs to help close this huge hernia.. I had some problems with bleeding the next day and the surgeon went back and opened the whole surgery site to find out what was causing all the bleeding, thankfully, what ever it was, healed itself But of course I am writing because I have a problem, the whole upper belly are is hard as a rock and a CT shows that its scar tissue... I go in soon to see my surgeon and i will discuss having some scar tussue removed so i look more normal, as of now, the hardness of the scar tissue sticks our further then my poor boobs that shrank after I lost 130 pounds. I am pretty happy with all that my surgeon has done but I guess my body is just tired of surgery, I have had over 25 surgeries, do to Neurofibromatosis. I have had numerous tumors removed and this is the first time I have had scar tissue build up like this. SO does anyone have a simaliar story of scar tissue and how they fixed it??? I see my family doctor this week and I am bringing him the written report of the CT and then I will see my surgeon next month when he goes over my labs and also removes a disolvable stitch that did not disolve... Thanks everyone Donna 277/150ish

Hi Donna, I can totally relate to your problems. I had a panniculectomy Oct. 05. I got an infection in the surgery site and have a nasty looking scar, looks a lot like a burn victim. Anyway, I went regularly to the wound clini****il it was finally resolved...about 5 months. I went to another surgeon because I thought I had a hernia. I'd never had a hernia before. He wasn't convinced that it was and ordered at CT scan and voila...it's scar tissue. A massive hard huge amount that extends from the incision infection site all the way up probably about 8 inches. The surgeon told me it would go away with time, but if I couldn't stand it they could inject it with steroids to shrink it. At that time, I thought I would wait it out, but it seems to be getting bigger and annoying when I try to lie on my stomach. I need to go see another doc and get another opinion. I know this didn't help resolve any of your questions. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Patti
