Dumping update

I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and started on glucophage. Now I'm dumping. Today it was on some Mountain Man trail mix with nuts and dried fruit. I had less than a half of cup. I know it was dumping because my blood sugar was 162. I saw a dietician this morning to help me figure out a healthy diet relative to the insulin resistance. I specifically went to Mercy Capitol since they have a WL program. Specifically asked for someone who was familiar with WLS patients. What a waste of time and money. Her plan for me is to consume 180 gms of carbs a day! That's 12 servings. One serving would be like 5 triscuit. I can't eat 5 triscuit without She didn't seem to get the concept of a little itty bitty tummy, um, like 3 oz! If I were to eat all she wanted me to, I'd never get anything else done but eat! She had it set up for 1600 calories. I'm not sure what planet she stepped off of, but it's not from this person's WLS world! I looked at her and said since I have the metabolism of a 3 toed sloth, I would gain wt on 1600 cal a day, considering I still want to lose another 10 pounds or so. Yesterday I ate an apple at 4:30. I couldn't eat supper. I was still full of apple. Kind of defeats the purpose of a meal and needing to eat protein. I called my WLS doc's office and talked to his nurse. She said to continue eating as I have been and come in and talk to him about it. So I see him on the 29th. GRRRRRR!

Insulin-resistant and you were told to eat 180 carbs per day...yeah, you should have kept your money. Since I'm in the same boat as you, I highly suggest eating protein/low-fat dairy, green leafy vegetables and whole grains only. Save the (low glycemic) fruit for low blood sugar (hypoglycemic) episodes...for me, 1/2 an apple with a tbsp. of peanut butter works best. HTH some Hon! (((Hugs))) ~~Sherry

Hey Sherry, You know, that's what I've been doing all along when I really am watching it and I have been now for several months. I'll have eggs for breakfast or oatmeal, peanuts for a snack, cottage cheese with tomatoes for lunch, a protein bar for snack, a piece of meat and a veggie or small salad for supper. I was doing fine on that. She is nuts!
