Okay, something has changed. I've never dumped much except on a piece of fruit pizza. I was able to eat a small bag of M & Ms with no problem. (I didn't do it often). But now! Geez! I started on glucophage 3 weeks ago for insulin reisistance. I've dumped more since then than the past 27 months since surgery! Last week it was on french dressing I marinated chicken in and grilled. Today it was on a handfull of Ritz bits with cheese. I'm afraid to eat anything. I talked to the pharmacist and he said that's not one of the listed side effects. However, my body is very strange and if there's a weird side effect that .01% of the people MIGHT have, I'll have it. I also haven't been hungry. Nothing sounds good. I have been making myself eat, but it's mainly been eggs, cottage cheese, protein bars and shakes. Meat is gross. I not longer like the taste or the texture of meat. Yuck. Fish is still okay. I'm calling my WLS doc tomorrow cuz this is really strange. Geez, I whine because I'm hungry and now I'm whining because I'm not! Just no pleasing me. I have lost wt, which is good. I'm down all the 6 pounds I had regained so that makes me happy. I still would like to lose 5-10 more. Then I'd be just a little below my goal - you know - wiggle room. It just has to be the glucophage. Anyone have any experience with this? Sherry Weber - any input? Lyn

I'm sorry I have had that problem. I wish you luck finding out what's causing it though. And FYI, I can't eat marinade of any kind.. It all makes me sickie. =[

Lyn, I agree it is a good idea to talk to your doctor about this. Any chance you are eating more things with sugar alcohols in them.? (sorbitol, malitol, manitol to name a few). I have had major dumping on sugar alcohols and I don't have to eat but a gram or two of them. They can give the same symptoms as dumping (nauseau, diarrhea, sweating, rapid heartbeat etc). Most people don't have an issue with them, but some really do and like me are super sensitive. Mary

Are you dumping or getting hypoglycemic episodes after eating? Kathy

Hey Lyn, My friend, who is NOT a wls post op, started taking Glucophage about 6 months ago, and has lost about 30 pounds. She has not been very hungry since taking it, and has side affect, similar to IBS. I say if you're feeling ok, count your blessings, and enjoy the fact that you're losing weight and healthy. Wendy

Hye Lyn.... Trying to be a gentleman...what type of dumping is it??? the..."Explosive type"...or the ..."Just shoot me" type? If it the Just shoot me.....I would think you are having a hypoglycimic episode....(that is what the just shoot me type is...a major insulin dump in reaction to the carbs) if the glucophage lowers your blood sugar and then you dump just a little, you could really be low...BS wise If it is the Explosive type....My other half was on Glucophage...(No weight loss surgery for him)...just diabetic, and that suff gave him the Explosion.... hope this helps... Russ...yep i'm a nurse

Hi Lyn, Maybe looking into cinnamon for the hypoglycemia issues would help? I started on it after having some LBC issues and just add it to my oatmeal in the morning. I haven't had an episode since. Here are a few links worth looking at. http://care.diabetesjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/26/12/3215 http://www.chetday.com/type2diabetes.htm http://www.glucose-meters.org/cinnamon-a-natural-means-of-glucose-control.html Lisa
