I will be two years out in October. I feel good but for the past few months I have been losing a lot more hair than I think I should. I didn't lose this much after surgery. I've had my thyroid tested recently...normal. I'm taking my vitamins and protein. I am getting my two year labs done in a few weeks. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks Betty

How are your protein and iron levels? http://www.hairsite2.com/library/article194.htm Kathy

I'm having a similar problem. I noticed that my hair was thinning noticably in the crown area, starting last spring. I've had my thyroid retested, all is same as it has been for years. My WLS surgeon did some extra tests in June, and every one of my lab levels are well within the normal range. He advised me to double up on my vitamins, which I did eventhough my levels were already very much normal. I also added fish oil capsules for the omega-3s fatty acids, which some of my internet reading said might be involved. My gynecologist said I should talk to my endocrinologist, which I did but he dismissed it as endocrine-related since I wasn't growing hair in other inappropriate places on my body. I'm also getting closer to menopause, so that might be playing here, too. I do notice new hair growing in along the edge of my scalp, but don't see much difference in the crown area. I don't have any spots that are completely bald, but my scalp does shine through. My hairdresser started carrying a new product, which does do a pretty good job of disguising the thinning. It is called X-Fusion, and it is a shaker full of tinted keratin fibers, which stick to the hair and the scalp. There is also a spray fixative that you can spray on after shaking on the fibers, to help them stay in place until you wash your hair. I like that it tones down the glare from the light reflecting off my scalp when I'm under bright lights. www.Xfusionhair.com is the website. Sue O.
